Default ICSI hand brake and Tri Axis Adjustable Handlebar

I was checking out the hand brake, I am definitely going to need one, but all I see is it on regular width bars. Does anyone have it on the Tri Axis adjustable handlebar? It is quite different than regular bars. Does it have a special fitment for this particular bar?

Nevermind! I found it. I jumped the gun and found it right after I asked. Sorry to waste board space. Mea culpa, mea culpa...

But since you're already here... is the ICSI the best hand brake system out there? It looks incredibly well-made.

    Default Not sure..!!

but if no one here has installed one you might get in touch with them and see if they have a model for the tri axis bars. if they don't have one now they will soon. Many folks are getting those bars...

    Default hand bake

It may be the best one out there. But it is also the only one out there.
With that being said it is way out of my budget.
I've read that they don't make one with a cable because, cables fail, but found out the emergency brake is held by something.
    Oh yeah it's a cable...........................

I put the ISCI on my adjustable bars almost 2 years ago. Works great. Pictures in my gallery. Follow the link below.

I have both the Tri-Axis handlebars and the ISCI hand brake and they work well together. The only thing is that the ISCI doesn't come with the plastic cover (under the bar) that needs to be modified for the hand brake to fit through. It comes with one for the standard bar so I copied the cut out onto the cover from the Tri-Axis bar.
Just take your time and use small cuts until it fits.

I don't know if anyone else makes one, but the nice thing about the ISCI unit is that it doesn't tie directly into the brake system so if it ever failed the Spyders brakes will still work as designed. That and it is a very well made kit.

Just remember if you have a small hand order it with the small hand lever. I didn't know that when I ordered and had to then order after install and have it swapped out. I have both the Tri Axis bars and hand brake kit and they work great.

Did you guys use the plastic cover that was included on your tri axis or did you cut the existing one like mentioned earlier?

Your bike does not have an emergency brake. It has regular service brakes that are hydraulic and it has a rear caliper only parking brake that is cable actuated.

All that aside, unless the rider is handicapped such that the right foot brake cannot work, there is no need for the ISCI hand brake once you learn to use the Spyder service brakes as designed. Its no different than learning to steer the spyder differently that a traditional motorcycle. The Spyder brakes are VERY good at stopping the bike and properly maintain the front to rear bias and are monitored by the ABS system. The ISCI hand break does not split the system front and rear anyway.

I've installed the ISCI handbrake on my RS SM5, and on a friend's RT SM5. I have ridden Spyder's with both the SE and SM systems. The ISCI system wasn't/isn't the only system out there, but it IS by far the best, and is an exceptional engineering feat - it does a superb job, while just actuating your foot brake. It is worth every penny of the asking price.

Personally, I've found that I have to have one with the SM box, but don't want/need one with the SE.. Don't know why, just is. The way I look at the SM vs SE decision is that they are the same price (adding the ISCI brake), but do I want to exercise my hand in stop-n-go traffic, or at stoplights? Again, personally, I wouldn't have the SM without the ISCI brake system.

I was on the phone with them this morning, great people! The tri axis "sleeve" on the bottom of the bar needs to be cut to accommodate but doesn't seem like too big of a thing. After researching, and especially talking to them, that is what I am going with. All doubt resolved in one 7 minute phone call. That's a professional.

You are better off if you use the lower cover that comes from ISCI and trace the tri-axis lower cover and cut off the ISCI. It's much easier then trying to modify the shorter tri-axis lower cover.
