have to store RT - battery?
I have to store my RT this summer and at this point can't find a storage locker in town with power. If I have to store it without a charger attached, should I just disconnect the battery?? Can I do that in the trunk without digging to the bottom where the battery resides??

I would remove the battery and store it with a maintainer somewhere else if possible.

Remove it....
disconnecting it will not help that much. Best is to remove it and keep it at home on the tender. The best way to disconnect is at the battery anyway...

how long is it going to be? Just a couple months? I let mine sit all winter with no problems With no tender. I would park it and let it be & deal with it when it's time to Ryde. Also The battery can be a pain to remove.

You do not say how long but the specs on a battery like this is no more than 3 months.
This is straight from Yashua and the paper work that came with my battery.

I'd say the first question to answer is one that's been asked. How long? If not for than two or three months I think you'd be OK to just disconnect it so nothing is draining it. Especially in the summer when getting cold is not a problem. I just had a bit of a surprise this evening. I took the battery out of my lawn tractor in October or November and set it on a shelf in my garage. This evening I hooked up the battery charger/maintainer to get it ready for the summer. Lo and behold, about 15 minutes later the charger light was going on and off in maintenance mode. The battery stayed pretty much fully charged all winter and required almost no charge to bring it to full charge. I was expecting to see the light on the charger stay lit steady for 2 to 4 days, but not the case. The battery was new last spring from Costco.

If its going to be in an area with no power just make sure you disconnect the leads from the battery and let it sit. Not as good of a solution as using a tender, but very likely you'll be fine.
I wouldn't over think it. At worst its a $100 battery.......

Guess I should have said for how long - May 1 to mid-Sept. Looks like I'll go the disconnect route as a search for a locker with power is not turning up any in town. I think I can disconnect a battery.

Since it is a 2013 it is easy.
Open the front trunk.
If you have a liner, unzip the big flap.
Remove the 2 screws from the battery access panel using a T30 screwdriver.
Slide the access cover up a 1/2 inch and remove.
Using a #3 phillips screwdriver remove the screw holding the red cable from the battery and tuck it out of the way.
Reinstall the screw into the battery.
Reinstall the battery access cover to keep the critters out.
It would be a good idea to make sure the battery is fully charged before driving to the storage unit. The higher the charge on the battery before disconnecting the better.

Also, Take a 10mm box wrench just incase. Sometimes the battery bolts can be tighter than what is workable with a screwdriver.

I can take it and ride for the summer to keep the battery charged
