Default Ideas to dress up the RT Rear End

I like the way my Spyder looks EXCEPT for the back end. The trailer hitch is pretty ugly and when combined with the back fender is almost unsightly.

I thought about color matching the back end to the rest of the Spyder but there isn't a paint that will adhere easily to the pebbled finish.

Some chrome strips dress it up a bit but has anyone successfully done anything to improve the looks of the back end?

    Default plasti-dip

try some plastidip on all the flat black areas. it comes in all different colors. it will definately stick. if you don't like it, peel it off and you're only out a few bucks.
it was fun while it lasted.

fender.JPGThere are several places that sell chrome accents for the rear fender and then there's this aftermarket fender.

The back fender will hold onto matching paint, IF it is properly prepared...
We've had a couple of folks manage to pull it off, and it looked great.
    Sting, even had his chromed...

    Randy,
    Didja get it yet?
The Missus wants to know which one; black, or red?
If you got the Black one; you'll need a new Batman costume for it!

Lights and chrome cover make a great rear end presentation.

You need to get rid of the texture....scuff with med scuff pad. A few coats of epoxy primer sand with 400 or 600 grit, base mid coat and clear .....have mine ready to shoot, along with lower cowling and mirrors

.................................................. ....................I painted my dash- surround with Toyota white pearl ( almost a perfect match right down to the metallic base ). I am pretty sure the Dash and the rear part you are referring to are made of the same material. I cleaned the plastic , painted it with a plastic paint primer, then did the Toyt Wht Pearl........If you are interested PM me for details .............Mike

    Mike:

The dash surround is not the same... it is a lot smoother. It was one of the first mods I made to my Pearl White but when I tried a test spot on the rear panel it did not take.

Yeah they aren't even close. I've seen it done on a couple of bikes and I really like it. It's just finding the right person who preps it correctly so the plastic holds the paint.

I think the stock look on the rear of the RT actually gets lost with the black rear and back tire. I wish BRP would paint it on the Limited model.

See if this is to your liking.

Myself ? I enjoy a Timeless Black Spyder, so I'm OK with the stock rear, although I'm seriously considering adding a mudflap.
If it ain't broke, don't break it.

I had mine painted and the paint shop said it just needs to be sanded then cleaned with a chemical to remove the antyadhesive oil used in the mold when manufactured. Mine was done 2 years ago and no sign of peeling or any problems and I think it looks a lot better. Had dash painted also.

That is what I had in mind. Did they paint it on the Spyder or was it disassembled. I really, like the looks of your machine. Did you also paint the lower part on the side or is that an extension of your floorboards I see in the photo?

Did you consider painting the top/side case latch area?
