The wires for the frunk outlet are tied up around the left front shock mount. Buy the $30 outlet from brp. The instructions are spot on and even include the template to drill the hole on the frunk.

First I added a fuse block which can hold up to six devices switched or on unswitched. One of those is my outlet

I have a Battery Tender plug connected to my battery (the battery on a 2013 is in the trunk/frunk/drunk whatever you want to call it) and I bought a 12v outlet that plugs into it.

    Default Cycle Gear

photo 1.jpgphoto 2.jpgHere is the best way to add a power outlet to your Spyder
you can see it is on sale right now. mine works just fine i installed it in the dash, the wiring that comes
with it is plenty long enough to go from the battery to the dash with extra... it is fused as well this way you
    bypass the Spyders electrical system.

On the dash, wires run from battery points with inline fuse.

I have a 2011 RS with the outlet in the OEM trunk location. After checking the outlet I found that it is switched. I would like to use this to plug in my battery tender. Can anyone tell me which fuse is used and can I move it so that the outlet is always hot.

    Thanks

    At a guess...

If you open the frunk lid theres a black plastic cover above the top of the frunk. Remove that by pulling it. Behind that on the right as you look at the front of the spyder is a fuse box. Remove the cover of the fuse box and it has a diagram of the fuses. There will be 2 spare auxillary points, one switched, one not. My guess is your outlet has been wired to the switched one - you'll probably find that has a fuse while the nonswitched one doesn't. From there you'll need to work out how to switch the connection over to the unswitched one, and the fuse of course. Just be careful if you try and put the fuse box out to look at the connections because the sides are very fragile.

Again I say this is a guess because its switched as everyone seems to wire these up differently.

Thanks for the reply, Piston. After doing a ride today and checking and topping off the oil after returning, I took a look at the fuse box and receptacle. Not being an electrician, my knowledge of it is that it hurts when you stick your finger in a socket, I decided to leave well enough alone and attach the battery tender to the terminals under the seat. I can get to them easy enough and if the weather holds I can get the tender pigtail attached to the terminals.

    Default HOW 2 MOUNT

    HOW 2 MOUNT....?
let me tell u i re-purpose lots of things...
i took a plastic pants hanger: SAM_1001.jpg cut the end 'clips' off...
then i use industrial glue to glue it to the bottom of the radar detector: SAM_1003.jpg...
then once dried, i clip the assembly onto the center of my dash: SAM_1002.jpg...
O.BTW - these clips work well for sealing potato chip bags, and other such items....

as for which brand of detector, and where purchased... it matters not - it's all about choices...
however, i've been searching the web for a BLUE TOOTH RADAR DETECTOR... so if any1 knows where, or if, these are available, please speak up....

Spyd3r in light of the fact that your radar detector is pointing down rather than straight any issues detecting?
