Cost of BEST warranty
Hi. I am in the process of buying an RT and they are offering a BEST warranty for $742. I "think" it's for a 3-4 year extended. Is that a good price or can I shop for a better price? Also, can you still add the extended warranty up until the existing warranty runs out or do you need to purchase it at this time? Thank you.

1 - $742.00 is generally a good price for the 3 year extended BEST warranty (i don't believe a 4 year extended BEST warranty is available).
2 - You may purchase an extended warranty as long as your Spyder is under the original factory warranty.

I bought mine from Berts Mega Mall about a month ago, I was quoted 1 Year $449, 2 Year $599, or 3 Year $699.

Just before your factory warranty goes out, buy the extended warranty. I bought mine 3 weeks before my factory warranty went out. Price sounds reasonable. Mine cost $800.

Thank you
Thanks for the information. I will probably wait until it is expiring.

I've heard that the price is higher if you wait until your factory warranty is almost up. Is this true?

IIRC I saw a post recently from Bryce that said there was a fee if you waited more than X days before buying the extended warranty even from Berts. I didn't have to pay that but I bought mine over a year ago. I would suggest giving them a call and getting the up to date info.

extended warranty
They are not a good buy. There has been so much publicity about extended warranty on all products. I can not believe people are still buying them. S700. can make a lot of repairs if something should happen. If you are worried about that much in repairs buy a different brand. How many repairs should a $20,000 to35,000 machine need?

Yes, my dealer told me if you wait after the factory warranty expire, then your bike get the used motorcycle rate instead of the new motorcycle rate.

I would think it is just the opposite, had 3 months left on my original warranty and cost me less than $700.00 @ Berts

I bought my 2010 RT pre-owned and it came with the extended warranty. It has paid for it's self a couple of times in some repairs that would have been costly. It was also a good thing to have buying a pre-owned machine or if you would be selling/trading your Spyder.

I'm also worried that price will go up just from normal price increases. My warranty does not expire until May 2016 but might buy extended now so I don't have to worry about increases. My local dealer has an additional 5 years for $1200 which is in line with some of the 3 year deals I've seen.

Better verify that because I was told that 3 years was the max.

BRP only offers an additional 3 for a total of 5. Aftermarket service contracts (not recommended) do offer longer terms.

I am a member of USAA and they told me you couldn't get the extended warranty on motorcycles....on cars.
