Star Tron
Up until this morning I was a star tron user to help protect my engine from the ethanol. This morning I stopped into the dealership that I bought my Indian from and was talking to the parts guy. Told him I was on my way to get some star tron for my Spyder and the Indian. He took me to the end of the counter and showed me this bottle that was a mixture of water and star tron, there were also two other bottles next to this one. One had an additive that BMW motorcycles recommended and water, and the other was one with a product called Helix 5 in 1 and water. Each bottle had a nut in as to see the effects on it, The BMW product did not mix with the water but the nut was not rusted out, the Helix 5 in 1 mixed with the water and the nut was not rusted out. The only nut that was rusted out was the one in the Star Tron and Water mix. So I questioned as to the truth in what I was seeing, he said that the person who brings him the Helix 5 in 1 is the same as the one that distributes Star Tron. I think I am going to make the switch to the Helix, I just thought that you all would like to see the star tron mix, and have some information as to what else is out there.

See those bottles displayed all the time all over in shops. I use Sta-Bil maybe I'll try it & see how it does.

DANG !!!
I just bought 24 8 oz bottles of Star Tron. (It was a lot cheaper than buying it one or two bottles at a time.) I may look for something else to stabilize the fuel over the winter months (although the normal 1oz-to-5 gal Star Tron mixture is not intended to be used as a stabilizer, anyway).

Water!!
I dont mix my Star Tron with water. I add it to GAS. If I am going to store it I also add Fuel Stabilizer.
So Star Tron is not a rust inhibitor, I buy it to neutralize the effects of ethanol.

Dave is spot on. I suggest you run three tanks with StarTron, checking milage & performance (seat of the pants), then use three tanks of NO ethanol gas (PurGas.com). Compare your results...
I've used Sta-Bil in my Spyder, gas in cans, and all small motors - if they are going to sit - unused - for more than 4 weeks. Have done so for decades. All I can say is that my lawnmower, generator, edger, etc. all start when I need them again.
