Yes Bob, things are good once again, my sugar levels just wanted to let me know that at times they get to be the important thing in my life instead of my riding machines

That would depend on who you ask, found in 92 so adult onset, then went on Insulin in 93. Some Doctors say I am type 2 adult onset, others say Type 1 insulin dependent.

Am now on Insulin U-500, super concentrated insulin. Is 500 times more powerful then regular R insulin, taken with a ml needle, so for instance, .57ml X 500 = 285 units of R insulin.

So this along with the other service connected physical disabilities at times make my way of life challenging but keep it interesting at the same time.

I've heard your situation referred to as, "Insulin Dependent Type 2". The reason I'd say Type 2; is the insulin resistance that you've already developed in such a short time...
I've got a friend up here, (The one who told me about this description), who's taking amost 300 units of Novolog a day...
(I take about 70 units of Humalog daily)
U-500 is strong stuff... 5x more concentrated, than the U-100 juice that I play around with...
    Hang in there, Bro!

Not on the pump, U-500 is not for pump use, so I take .15ml before breakfast (75 R units) and .57ml before dinner (285 R units), when I get my corti shot for my knee, the next 3 days after are .2ml morning, and .60ml before dinner. A1C holding at 6.7.

Here comes the good stuff, couple all of the above with, Chronic Denervation of lower extremities, bilateral diabetic neuropathy of legs and hands and lower arms, drop ankle of right foot, radial helix of left elbow problem, L5/S1 herniated and disc lying on thecal sac, heavy arthritis left elbow, right knee, some arthritis in left knee, degenerative joint disease along spine, moderate hearing loss left ear, constant tinnitus left ear.

Along with the insulin I take 19 to 22 pills a day, depending on pain and muscle spasms. The docs said I would be in wheel chair in 93, God said, not yet so I continue doing what I do, and live life to the fullest that I can.

    ok done now

i am using U500 insulin in my pump. been doing it for 7 months now, i have the omni pod pump by insullet corp. every 3 days i change the pod and i fill the new one with 175 units. so i w2ould ask your doctor if you are able to go on a pump through your insurance company and go on it because it has worked wonders for me. my insurance first turned me down so i called the pump company and they got the insurance to approve it. bobs pump is a tube pump where his control unit has the insulin in it and a tube is attached to the injection site. my pump is wireless and the pod that holds the insulin is programed to give the insulin w/o any hose to it.https://info.myomnipod.com/Paid-Sear...FaIF7Aod7CUARQ

The original pumps weren't able to compensate for the different strength insulins.
Some of the newer ones can adjust for up to the U-500 concentrations now.
If you're willing to hook up to the pump; it might be worth a call.
I went from taking 4 shots a day; to changing out my infusion set once every three and a half days.
That's a WHOLE lot less stabbing yourself!
PM me if you have any quesitons or concerns; I'd be happy to fill in the gaps!

Thanks for the info Cuzn, being 100% P&T through the VA they may cover it. The documentation from the U-500 people said not for use in pumps, so that is what they went by. With my A1C holding at 6.7 for the last year the docs say I am doing real good with the diabetes
