A good chunk of the '08's had DPS (dynamic power steering) issues and needed to be replaced. There was actually a recall. Make sure all the recall issues were taken care of. This may be the cause of the "orange gecko" and limp mode.

You can also purchase the service and repair manual from www.brpmanuals.com. $23.50 would be a good investment.
You might also check to see if your dealer has a BRP certified technician. Many do not. If not, I suggest you find one that does.
there are many on this forum who have many thousands of trouble free miles on Spyders of all vintages and models.

Spyder or 1980s Hyundai
By chance, did someone install an aftermarket HID headlight kit on your spyder? The codes you see are the exact codes mine threw when I attempted to install a non-brp HID kit.... It stalled also and would not start.

Look, Electro Cat, you come here looking for answers and you have been rather rude in your approach. You are expecting everyone here to give you answers but you don't seem to be looking for any on your own. You bought a 6 year old machine with 5,000 miles on it which means it probably wasn't maintained and hasn't had all of the updates.
You have been given instructions on how to download the Owner's Manual, an app for looking up error codes and places to purchase and download a Service Manual. Now go read all of that and if you still have questions then come back here and ask them without getting rude in your replies. If you can't do that then you need to go to time out.

Just got done reading the thread and have come to the conclusion that the young lady was looking for an instant answer, when there is none. And seems to have a little complex, thinking everyone is out to get her because she is a female.
you folks went out of your way to help, I am not so sure I would have been so nice.

Electro Cat,
I could be wrong, but you don't sound like an Internet troll to me, even though your posts are coming off that way. You sound like someone who bought an older unfamiliar machine to ride, and it is giving you problems, making it undependable, and you very angry and frustrated. If indeed that is the case, then the people on this forum CAN and WILL help you, if you just cut back on the emotion, and give them the facts to work with. In that regard, Ann just gave you some very good advice. If you are serious about getting help, I would do what you can to follow it. And by the way, Ann would normally be one of the first folks here to help you.
As was just mentioned, if you re-read this thread with a cool mind, you have ALREADY been given some very good advise on places to start looking. I'll just point you back to a couple of them....
1. In post #15, spyryder gave you a link to the BRP website where you can download a manual for your machine in .pdf format. You SHOULD be able to do that with an iPad, or any laptop or PC. I'd try again.
2. In post #27, jvicker addressed the DPS fault and mentioned that it was prevalent in your model year. Someone else said that could be caused by corrosion in the electrical system, which could be quite likely in your case. (Also, in your original post, could you have meant "vss" rather than "fss"?) These may well be the places to start the discussion with a good Can Am repair facility. And that leads to the third post I'll point you to...
3. In post #24, IndyRSS gave you some very good advise about how to seek reliable help in your location. I couldn't agree more with what was said there. As has been stated, these are complicated machines run by a rather sophisticated computer (the ECM). It generally takes a BRP certifed technician to diagnose complicated problems like yours, and they have the computer software available to read a lot more from your machine than just the fault codes. You list your location as "Twycross". If you are in the UK, you may have fewer dealers with certified repair shops to choose from but there are a few dealers listed within 100 or so km of you. If you are not in the UK and could be more specific about your location, someone will point you to some good repair facilities. Also the BRP website contains a dealer search engine.
Best of luck getting your problem sorted out. Sorry to be so verbose.

I think that you need to work on your personal issues before you worry about fixing the Spyder. If you have treated it like you have the people on this site that are clearly trying to help you then I understand why it doesn't run. I can only guess how thankful the dealer is for your purchase. Lol.. If you want help then ask for it, listen to what is offered and act on it. After all your a pilot, electrical engineer and god only knows what else so use all your knowledge to figure out people skills. Then please come back and enjoy the site and your Spyder.

ElectroCat,
Where are you located?
I agree that you should dump that non-running POS. When you get a sec send me a message and maybe we can work out a deal and I will take that POS off your hands. I've got a nice stack of cash to bring your way that will likely better suit your needs vs. That non-running spyder.

My 2008 is running fine. How about offering me some of that stack for my spyder? If it'll help, I can become rude/insulting.
