Default Anybody have the monoseat cowl?

I only ride solo on my ST and so was wondering whether anybody had this accessory and had an opinion on it. It is pricey (for being one small piece of molded plastic), but I wonder if it makes the Spyder look better in your opinion (yeah, subjective question...)? Any thoughts?

Definitely makes it look a lot better, and you can get them on ebay occasionally for a lot less than retail.
Unless you have a sport rack, then it looks goofy, the lines don't look right.

I have the seat cowl and like it just fine. There's a guy that sells a fastener kit for it on eBay that's much better than the stock rubber pieces. Much easier to install.

Oh yeah I also have the sport rack and they look good together imo.

I had one on the 2009 to dress it up. It's pretty flimsy, and IMO, did not really give good back support. It was tied down with rubber straps at the time. Both straps broke the following season and BRP did not have replacements.

I do not recall others complaining about this, so maybe they got the rotting strap issue solved.

We ended up tossing the cowl. Sorry about that.

I'm guessing it will only work with stock seat, right?

Yes on that also. We put a comfort seat on the 2009 and the cowl would not line up properly.

Fits just fine on my '08 with the BRP comfort seat...

Don't know if there was a difference in comfort seats from 08 to 09--but that was the issue I ran into.

I have to agree with just about everything said. I think it really makes the Spyder look more sporty. It is flimsy plastic but holds up well because the seat gives it strength and rigidity. The OEM retainers are complete junk and hard to use. But there are better options available.

I'd like to give the fastener kit a try. But I don't see anything listed on eBay. Can you provide a link? Thanks!

I have it on mine also and I love the looks but I hate the grab bars on the bike and I plan on taking them off and redesign the seat so I can have storage under the seat cowl. I plan on making the cowl so that it will attach to the seat with a latch so I can left it up and use it as a little storage area, I will also have the seat redone.

Here is one on my wife's STL. She just loves the look. Also, she has the comfort seat on it as well.
