Limp home warming with handle bar picture
Just got my RT from getting oil changed, riding home on a hilly road in Denver CO, suddenly got a red engine sign on rpm gauge then got a symbol that looked like the handle bars along with warming saying limp home coming up on the driver information screem (mode screen). I pulled over shut everything down waited about 5 minutes restarted Can Am, all systems were go, rode home no more problems. Does anyone know what could have caused this to give me this warning and what that warning means?

They do this to us sometimes to show us who is really in charge. If the problem does not persist, chalk it up to a computer glitch.
Others may tell you to call up the codes if any are present. They will have to tell you the magic sequence.

Make sure your foot was not resting on the brake. It happens to all of us at sometime.

Codes help..!!
but glitches are common. If you can pull any codes you would better know whats going on. The check engine light seems to come on for eveything its the second light you need to look into. But if it clears and all is good the codes go to storage and you will not see any. You need buds to call them up. Ryde on and should it happen again check it with buds...

It's happened to me a few times, in this scenario;
Driving hard, tap on the brakes, and kicks into limp mode (DPS Failure). It's the "tapping" on of the brake that puts the computer into fits (as I've been told)
To access the exact code;
Turn Key to on position
Hold Mode and Set buttons simultaneously
Push Signal Cancel
This will display any active codes. Then call dealer.
To reset(clear);
Turn off bike, wait a few minutes
Apply brake while starting back up.

I second that
I second all of the above, it happened to me during the early days of ownership. All hell broke loose and I had orange lights all over the dash. It might be that you rested your foot on the brake or your brake switch is on it's way out. You say you just got it back from a service?did they adjust the brake actuator? if not just keep an eye on it, good luck

This has happened to me several times with my 2012 RT Limited. I made a stop at my dealer and was told that BRP has issued a software fix for this problem. Was told that if it becomes a more frequent problem, they could flash the computer. Mine has happened 2-3 times. Since I am in the middle of a move from Texas to Florida not going to have the bike fixed until in FL.
