    Default Indian Chieftain

Am considering adding an 2014 Indian Chieftain to my garage , the 2015 looks sweet also. We are getting an Indian Dealership here in just about 3 more weeks.

The new Indians are beautiful machines. All the write ups have been favorable. A company like Polaris manufacturing and backing it up is very much on the plus side.

Currently Owned: 2019 F3 Limited, 2020 F3 Limited: SOLD BOTH LIMITEDS in October of 2023.

    Previously : 2008 GS-SM5 (silver), 2009 RS-SE5 (red), 2010 RT-S Premier Editon #474 (black) 2011 RT A&C SE5 (magnesium) 2014 RTS-SE6 (yellow)

MY FINAL TALLY: 7 Spyders, 15 years, 205,500 miles

IT HAS BEEN A LONG, WONDERFUL, AND FUN RIDE.

I have a 2014 Blue Indian Vintage with about 7000 miles on it so far. Love the bike! Best bike I have ever owned. Biggest difference for 2015 is the two tone paint jobs. The 2014's were three basic colors, blue, black and red. This new year will add to the variety of bike color choices. FYI, I ride the Indian more than my Spyder. Maintenance is every 5k for oil. 10k need to do forks and every 15k brake bleed. Oil change comparable yo Spyder if done at dealer. Can also purchase full kit for about 80$ and do it yourself.

Nice bikes. I like the simplicity of the single color 2014's myself, but I wouldn't turn either one down for the garage.

Twain, thanks for the info. As for now we are just in the considering phase, when the dealership opens here we will go and see what they have going on and such. If it works out tis cool if not tis cool also. We really like our 14 Spyder RT S so the Indian would be a second vehicle for face in the wind.

The Indian Motorcycles look great We had visited one dealership in Sturgis while in the Black Hills recently . The 111 engine looks good and the value seems to be there with Indian.

Good luck with your future purchase and fill us in if/when it happens!

Here's a few pics....the custom in the first pic was around $40K, the others were in the mid-$20K's that we looked at.

I notice that Indian gives a 5 Year Warranty. Too bad you-know-who does not. Oh well.....

I test drove one about a year ago. A dealer out west of me had the factory demo rides. It was a cold wet fall day and when I arrive the factory people were not allowing any bikes out due to the rain so I asked the dealer if I could take one of their demos out. They agreed and it is a nice riding bike with low down power. When I returned the factory rep came up to me and asked how the roads were. I told her they were fine and 5 min. later the group was off and running.

AC, My gun dealer took a Chieftain for a test ride at the Ocala dealership and upon return, he put a $1000. down on a 2014. He waited 2 months for it to come in and was called at his shop that its ready to go and you have 2 hours to get here or it goes to the next buyer on the list. Its a 5 hour ride to Ocala from Panama City Beach and when he said he could pick it up on the weekend, the sales manager took great delight in telling him its been sold. He asked for his deposit back right away and it took several days to get it after numerous calls. He than went to the dealer in Birmingham, Al and had a great experience from them and his bike was in within 2 weeks. He and his wife went to pick it up and they bent over backwards for him with great customer service. He ordered rear crash bars and a few other items and they shipped them to his house. He rides it everyday to his shop and travels with his wife who has a Road King to Orlando. His Harley has seen more of the garage than the road ever since buying the Chieftain. He said the Birmingham dealership calls him at least once a month to find out if he is happy with his Indian and told me that's customer service, unlike what he experienced in Ocala. I'm sure he will be happy to hear a dealership is opening in Pensacola, since the dealership he had it serviced at while on a trip to Orlando was taken over by the Ocala dealership and he refuses to do business with them.

Enjoy your new ride if it comes to be!

    Brian (PCBeachBum)
