    Default Cleaning

Well I finally pick up my new (2012 0 miles, new RT) and started to ride; It is great.

My questions is how and what to use to keep the RT looking like new! Also, is the front panel always so hard to get off to check the oil?

    Default Choices choices..!!

there are cleaners a plenty...I will tell you what I use "Plexus" or "Protectall". You will get other suggestions when the east coast wakes up... Hopfully dry and safe..!!

I am using Armor All cleaning wipes on all the plastic parts. Takes about 5 or 6 wipes to complete the whole . The wipes instantly dissolve bug and spatter mess. I have not put a hose to the yet, and it looks showroom new and shiney.

    Default Cleaners that I use

I use the Cycle Care Formula33 (Spray and Clean) to clean my Spyder. Windshield also. Also use their vinyl cleaner and conditioner on the seat makes it look like new again. Sometimes I will go back and polish body of spyder only with a product called Ice. I also have never used a hose to wash my spyder.

For a quick lick and a buff; we use Meguiar's Quick Detailer.
But Lemon Pledge also does a pretty decent job also!
Serious cleaning; I just hit it with whatever car wash soap I've got, and then wipe it down.

That side panel? READ YOUR MANUAL, and commit all of the information about removal AND re-installation to memory!
You sure don't want it popping off, and taking a tumble down the highway!

Just do not use Windex or any ammonia based products. They will cloud up the plexiglass windshield, head light covers and tail light covers, and the cover over the dash monitor.

    Chupaca,

Don't see Protectall on the shelves much, but that's what I use. Both are excellent, and both had their origins (and still enjoy wide use) in the private aviation industry. Are you a pilot, by chance?

Pro Honda Spray Cleaner & Polish is also excellent stuff and also less expensive. They even make a "plain label" version for Harley owners who don't want anyone to know that they clean their bike with a Honda product.

Palmolive dish soap in a bucket of warm water. Dry with an old bath towel. After that spray windshield with Honda spray. Makes removing bugs easier next time.

read about this on the board and tried it. it is safe for everything on your Spyder and it works great. I think it's about $6 a bottle. you can find it at your local parts place or walmart.

Cycle Care W and #33 will make your life simple and your Spyder shine with no water. Been using it for years on every custom paint job.

Not sure if this is available in the US however in Australia I been using Mister Sheen for years, fantastic on helmet screens for bugs and cleaning and also polishes paintwork and windscreen on my Spyder. And the best part it's very cheap, also use it around the house. Typically clean plastic etc with cold water and a chamois then apply Mister Sheen then polish off. Brings up the black plastic parts as well as the gloss panels to showroom shine.

    Default Dawn and mirofiber

I use warm water, Dawn dish soap and a microfiber wash mitt. Dry with microfiber cloth and wax with ICE. Occasionally I use Plexus on windshield but Dawn and warm water does the trick. I also use the hose but don't blow it in the radiators.

Does anyone else use soap and water? What are the panels made of that would preclude me from using soap and water? I have dusted my spider with a professional duster for high end cars so far. I think it is time to really clean up the spyder . Or are all the products mentioned here use to make the spyder shine like the use of a wax?
