    Default I'm melting...

I am accustomed to an RS without air deflectors. The RT has no air flow, and it is pretty miserable in high temperatures. How can I substantially improve the amount of air on my body? I have a mesh jacket, but it is doing me no good without any air to go through it.

My mods: Ed Hardy "Love Kills Slowly" graphics, custom tag frame to match graphics, Kuryakyn floorboards, Street Magic Easy Risers, Mean City Cycles seat mod, BRP Ultra Touring windshield with wind deflectors, Street FX ElectroPod lighting kit, Street FX Tire Technix motion activated wheel lights, extended parking brake lever, SpyderPops super duper foot-saving heat shield (aaahhhhh!!!)

I added Baker Air Wings to my 2013 RT-Ltd. Made a huge improvement in getting air on the body when it's warm. The other thing you could think about is a vented windshield.

Check out Baker Bilt air wings. They are a site sponsor on the home page. I have them on my ST-S and they really work.

I have not seen them, yet, but I have heard good things about the Baker Built Air Wings. I know what you mean about the air flow. Sometimes I want more, other times I want less.

I use Backer Built air wings on my RT and they work very well. You can turn them a little or a lot to get more air flow on you. They also work well to deflect rain around you when in the closed position.

Coming off a GS, I totally get what you're saying. I lowered the RT windshield to the lowest point safe for the brackets, put on the BRP adjustable wind deflectors and vented air toward me, wet my Buff headband to put around my neck and wear my Bohn Bodyguard Airtex shirt with a dri-fit tank top underneath. And I have a cooling vest for temps over 100 degrees ( fits under Bohn). Important to wear dri-fit against your skin, not cotton, to wick away moisture; once I made this gear change, I am staying much cooler.

I have the Can-Am adjustable side wings as well as an F4 vented windscreen and when it's hot out I turn the side wings to direct air towards me as well as open the vent on the shield. This helps a lot

The Baker Air Wings will probably provide you with the most air flow. I have the BRP adjustable vents and they are pretty good. I had the BRP vented windshield on my 2013 and did not buy one for the 2014 as I didn't think it provided any noticeable benefit.

I like my BRP adjustable air deflectors...
As a "quick and dirty" alternate; try removing the fixed OEMs, from the sides of the bike.

IMHO the BRP adjustable side wings are a waste of money. Removing the OEM side wings does exactly the same thing. Air never blows above your knees. I want it on my upper body!

I am sure the Baker Air Wings would work better but I personally do not like the looks of them installed.

Another way to combat this (And spend more $$$!), might be to replace your windshield with a vented BRP 23" shorty...

I've always wanted to try one of them, but yeah, that price is steep. Although, if I lived out west or south, I'd consider that money well-spent if it works as well as advertised.

The BRP adjustable vents work well for me. I think the biggest improvement I made was to cut the windsheild down for my height. (and that doesn't cost anything if you have a jig saw and some sand blocks). I was always looking through the windshield even in th lowest position. After cutting about 4 inches off of it, in the lowest position, I have good air flow to my upper body and can still raise it up in cold or rainey conditions for protection.

    Default Question about heat fix

I had a three bar plus terrible heat problem on mt 2013 rt-s, se5. Fan continually running. Course, I rode in south florida and sort of expected that for a machine designed in far north country. Than I look at the air deflectors just below the mirrors and could not understand using my aero background how deflecting that air would do anything but trap heat so I promptly removed both of them. Temp gauge backed down one complete bar with fan going on only occasionally now. I am reading here and studying other what sound like great fixes but for now I can at least ride comfortably.
Has anyone else had any experience like this and does anyone see any problem with removing the air deflectors?

There's no problem at all with removing them; just make sure to put the mounting "bolts" back in place...
