I wish I knew what it is that gets so many people offering their 2 cents about this or that choice of tire.
I think the subject of tire choice on this forum is entirely subjective, meaning everybody's opinion is only that, an opinion.
It would be better if tire choice was based on a scientific assessment, but it is what it is, just one guy's point of view butting up against another.
My Spyder RT's wheels go round and round and I refuse to beat myself up worrying about side wall stiffness and the number of plies in my tires.
I already have a life, thank you, I'm not looking for yet another way to uselessly waste my time.
Seems to me tires are a specialist subject and not being a specialist I'll happily stick with BRP and the Kendas.
Unless, of course. somebody out there REALLY knows of a better tire?

Scientific assessment on spyderlovers is typically SOTP (seat of the pants). Of course, there are some on here whom you'd would swear had calibrated SOTP.
I will just say I have my 2nd Michelin car tire on the rear on my Spyder, and the first one I got over 26000 miles on it and had no problems at all. I' m sure I could have gotten at least another 3,000 or 4,000 miles on it, but wanted to be ready for this riding season so I had it done in the winter. I have General car tires on the front and have almost about 28,000 miles on them and they look almost brand new still. I will never go back to the stock tires.
What model Michelin did you buy and does it matter if the Spyder is a R S or R T or any other R's
I have a 2014 R S and put a new tire on at 5,200 miles. O E M ( I didn't put it on-- the dealership did ) $277.77 o t d Living in Ca. I am able to ride 12 months a year, and in 8 months have 7,000 miles on . What with oil changes and new tires every 6 months it gets a little pricey. Thanks for the info.

I really know my answering you is REALLY futile, but it's raining .....What is your requirement for " really knows the best tire " , I hope it's not the opinion of BRP.....Because their decision to put KENDA'S on the Spyder had nothing to do with performance....it was strictly financial.....I have a " V " rated tire on the front of my Spyder that cost me $57.....What are the Kenda's rated at ????....I don't think anyone knows .....Why ? maybe because it's so LOW it would scare you to know.............And are you telling me that KENDA tires really are the EQUAL of Michelin's , or Pirelli's ,or Yokohama's, or Goodyear's........I know what are better tires for the Spyder, but I think you want the info directly from the mouth of GOD..........just sayin................enjoy your Kenda's ......I enjoy my 1/2 the cost " V " rated Toyo's ...Mike

Kendas are actually a pretty well respected tire in the motorcycle and atv world. I've had nothing but good things to say about my kenda spyder tires. Very good tread life and great dry/wet traction (which is most important IMHO).
Will I change to car tires or stay with Kendas when I need new tires? Who knows.... I agree that it's silly to over think tires. Ride more, worry less. Ride safe!

To summarise this slanderous outburst:
Spyder tires are of relative poor quality because they've been manufactured to the lowest possible unit price.
Kenda's speed ratings are a BRP industrial secret.
Kenda tires are so shockingly second rate that they're really unfit for purpose.
Kendas are overpriced.
It's strange then, all the above being true, that Kenda's haven't come back to bite their Scrooge-like BRP master in the butt.
I don't remember reading in these pages of a single instance of a Kenda de-laminating, nor suddenly going flat through failure of the carcass.
There is no reticence among contributors to Spyderlovers when a grievance concerning their machines becomes apparent so we'd hear about a rash of failing Kenda tires pretty darn quick were it to happen.
So far, so good. I'll stay with my Kendas.

There have been instances of Kendas having some trouble with the belts separating...

That having been said; I have had pretty good luck with my OEM tires. I switch to the "Dark Side" in order to find some more tread life...

I am running at 28# and two up about 95% of the time. 8,500 of those miles was also pulling a loaded trailer.

You can have it as many ways as you'd like. If I decide I want to run kendas, I'll run them and give my opinion. If next week I decide I want to switch to an aftermarket tire (and not pay attention to BRP's caution), I will. What is funny is the first cry from the dr's whack has seemed to carry on, and on, and on.......................for some.
