Don't think a fuel door would make any difference. It's there more for convenience not safety.

    Default GAS VAPORS

This is why I have my GAS tank double vented.......one line to the EVAP can and one to the atmosphere ( which also will take any overfill and dis-pose of it safely )........Mike .........................................When I open my gas cap I never get that WHOOSH sound

That's the trouble with Facebook it is really hard to find things after they are posted. I saw this post and can't find it again but it was posted as a comment under someone else's post. I believe that it was in response to a post about an accident that happened with a Spyder last week.

Correction: End of sentence should have read "warning" instead of warming.

I posted some pics about a year and a half ago on what I found on my 6mo. old RS with only about 2k miles.
The airbox has a tendency to push the main fuel line on the right side from the tank to the throttle bodies, up against the motor and rub. This is directly above the canister.
I had minor, but noticeable, rub marks in a very short period. I can only imagine what it would look like now....or after a few more years and miles.
There is no doubt in my mind that this would have worn through, creating a pressurized fuel leak....

I recommended everyone pull the airbox, check out the condition of that fuel line, and add some additional cut line to prevent rubbing and damage.
The advice fell on def ears then. Since then, we have found 2 more machines with similar "wear" on the fuel line. One machine we even replaced the line because it was worn pretty good. This was on a 2011 with about 15k.

Not trying to be an alarmist but something to put on the list of things to check out while the machine is down and apart for spring prep.

Do you have any pictures of those wear patterns?
    They could be pretty significant.

Somewhere....I posted the ones from my bike on here quite some time ago. Since nobody paid any attention I didn't even bother with pics off the 2011.
But that's kinda the way this place rolls.....haha...

Lol, yep. I meant it as a joke. Though at times it seems to fit. I added an Attwood 3" blower when I changed out the airbox. The blower is thermostatically controlled with a switch I added. Helps keep it cooler under the Tupperware. The sticker came with the blower. First thing that popped into my mind when I saw it is " I wonder if they somehow know I am installing this in a Spyder".

I wondered before how you fit it in there....didn't realize you removed the airbox junk.

I LOVE MY BIKE EVEN HAD A $4,000 custom paint job on it.
Hi everyone, my spyder as well has just caught on fire here in hawaii. Sorry to hear that you were injured in from the fire. I really liked my spyder and would probably chance having another one. Now I have no bike, and it is rare to see these bikes come to our islands. What is bro doing for you guy? I think they owe us new bike since its the manufacture that have failed in their design to create a safe product for the consumer. It was not the riders fault. Most importantly though they should fix the problem before someone ends up dead. I dont get on here that often, but hey be safe out there spyder fans. May God bless you all.

"check engine light with a P0351 code help
Hello everyone i need your spyder help. I recently bought a 2008 spyder sm5 in hawaii, this is my first ever motorcycle. I love it however only got to ride it three times before my check engine light came on. Learned online how to selfcheck for code. We have no brp on any island. Any solutions on a self fix. The code is for ignition coil. Anyone else had this issue, if so how did you fix it. Thank you all in advance for your knowledge. "

The Hawaiian Spyder is listed as a 2008 SM5. There may have been a lot of things not up to par, since there are no dealers in Hawaii.

Out of site, out of mind.

If you don't press the issue directly w BRP....again and again...you won't get anything done.
