Elkas question
Do Elka shocks raise the new 2014 RT the way they did on earlier years?

The answer to that question is No. They maintains the same static ride height as the stock, unlike the 2010-2012 shocks.

Nuts, the 2014 sits lower than the old 2012 and with the bumpskid you have to be careful going over dips. Don't suppose you could make one a little longer? And not mess up handling.

Well, the front stock shocks are sprung very very weak, so we use stiffer springs with less preload which ensures that the shock does not use its available travel after the slightest bump....so you will be able to save your bumpskid no problem.

Thanks for the info. I am on my way to getting elkas right now. My 2014 sits 1-1/2 inch higher than my 2010 right now so i am happy with that. The bumpskid I had on the 2010 only kissed a few times in 20,000 miles so i am sure the new one will hit less. But that is what it was made to do, right?

I agree the ride and handling is far superior, I was just looking for a little more height for bumpskid clearance and hoping that I could get the same 1" rise on the 2014.
Yes that was a post, just no answer.

Or maybe find someone with a trailer going my way. Last time I shipped a pair off my '11 the cost was about $50. Sorta negates any savings.

My mind still isn't made-up about the 2014 front end... it's way better than the older bikes; I just can't decide if it needs shocks and a bar, or not...
Well, you can try the Elka shocks Spyderfest ! Part of the deal we have going on with Pitbull powersports is " Buy em, try em, like em, keep em" . If you are not satisfied with the performance of the Elka shocks, come back and see me. I will take them off, put back on your stock ones, and give you your money back, no questions asked.
We will have an Elka road course on the fairgrounds where you will get to try them out, or take them out on the road for a spin. Your choice.

Trooper: Installation at Pitbull shop, or in vendor area?

In vendor area for front only. If you need to have a rear shock installed, it would be at Pitbull Powersports.

I ordered stage 1+r through my dealer. I have a 2014 rts. After removing the stock shocks I noticed the elkas are shorter by 1-3/4 inches. Is this correct? After installing them the ride height has dropped about the same.Do I have the wrong shocks by mistake?
My friend has the identical shocks on his 2013. We checked the preload adjustment ring and they were the same.

The 2013 and 2014 shocks are the same length. It sounds like you may have a set of 2010-2012 Spyder shocks, which are 1 full inch shorter.

The stock number on the box is Can-Am Spyder RT/R T-S STOCK E36R. There is a number stamped on the head, HP31946 and HP31947. These are serial numbers? The spring is F5.8x254 (same as my friend's 2013 RT.

Having both is a great combination! As I had them on my 2011 RSS and hope to soon add the Elka's on my 2014 RT with my existing Baja Ron sway bar.
** Loving my 5th Can-Am Spyder since 2007! **
