NEED ADVICE ON A 2012 RT-S SE5
Would like feedback on the good, bad and ugly of a 2012 RT-S SE5. Found a new one at a local dealership and the asking price is 23K and some change. Thanks for chiming in and providing some feedback...

GREAT Spyder!! (I should know)
I own the 2012 RTS-SE5. Truly, BRP hit this one out of the park. All the concerns were addressed and they ended up with the BEST DAMN Can Am Roadster on the planet. So I'm a little partial! And no offense to ryders of those other fine Spyders. Now, as far as the asking price. I have an issue with that. If that is his/her final "out-the-door" price, challenge them to give you a better offer. I'm quite sure they can do a lot better than that. The 2012 RT was and still is a premium joy to ryde. You will be more than impressed with your purchase. A million miles of smiles await you.

Bought our 2012 Limited Nov of 2012 as a demo with 1000 miles for $26,000. They should be able to do a little better.

The 2012s are good, but that seems expensive for a machine that only listed for $27K in the first place.

Like the others said I think they are asking too much for a 2012.

Like everyone else said, the 2012 is a fine year. With the 14's out and the fact that they have the bigger motor and lots of other changes, I think I would work on them a little bit. If you aren't in a hurry tell them to call you when they want to sell it for whatever you want to pay, then walk away. I would think with the 14's out, the people that want to buy a new '12 are going to be few and far between. The '14 RTS starts at 26K and some change I thought. I would tell them 19 or 20 and let them think about it for a week or so. The worst they can say is no.

I bought my 2012 RT-S in May, 2013 for $25,100 including tax and license.
It had 8,100 miles on it this morning. It has 8,250 miles on it now. The only problem I've had with it is that it seems to get dirty and so I have to wax it every week.

2012 is a solid spyder
I had a 2012 RT L and rode it 7,650 miles in 2013 TROUBLE FREE. As far as I know, it's a great year for the Spyder RT. Never stalled or left me stranded - enuf said. LOL
Traded it in for the 2014 RT L in order to upgrade for longer touring trips with the new 1330 ACE engine and upgraded transmission. If the 2014 would have not had the engine change, would have been perfectly happy to keep my 2012 RT L.
Good luck with your purchase. I would do some checking on selling prices in your area to get a perspective...your price you quoted seems high.
Happy and safe rydin'

Love my 2012 RT, no issues so far! But as said above, should be able to get a better price!

I have the same model and have about 14K miles on it so far. I have had trouble with a brake sensor and a wheel speed sensor. They were replaced under warranty. I do love this machine. The comfort level is great, the storage is too. I can ride 500 miles a day without pain. I do recommend it to everyone.

I love my 2012 RT-S, SE5. Loads of fun and has left a beautiful custom HD Ultra riderless since purchasing brand new in November 2012 for under $22,000. PM me and I'll scan and send you my invoice.

For that price, it better include the matching trailer.
Love my 2012. So far only real issue I've had which has been addressed was the ACS pump.

I have 10,000 trouble free miles on my 2012 RTS-SE5. Oil changes, a rear tire , and gas is all I have in it for expenses. I bought mine new at the end of the season for a little less than $19,800.

26500 miles
bought my 2012 in April of 2012 new $24k but they gave me what I owed on a Quad Cab Dodge Pickup in trade. Had 2 water pumps replaced under warranty, on second set of front brake pads and 3rd set of rears...
must have farkes will be the spyderpops block off plates get him to install them, cat shield, BajaRon Sway bars and KB headlights HIDs. plus got my Garmin 660 through best buy with Sena SM10 bluetooth dongle. only beef I have with it is the gas smell and excessive heat on right foot why I recommend Spyderpops block off plates. Amputee left leg above knee so i opted for the SE5.
2012 RT A&C bought new 42312 sold July 2018 56k miles currently driving a 2014 RTSE6 LTD bought October 2018 w 6800 miles nicely farkled

I'm sure that you'd be very happy with your 2012, but I think that in the long run you may do better to spend a little more and get a new 2014. In the long run, the value might be better, the chances of technical issues smaller, and there are some strong improvements.
Just my view as somebody who traded in a used 2010 (I've only owned for two years) for a new 2014.
If you do go with the 2012, I agree that you should get a better price and I would absolutely get a warranty.

I have one (2012 RTS SE5) that I had to wait on them to uncrate and assemble for 24K OTD with extended warranty and TTL, and that was right after the 2013s came out.
