A couple hours labor maybe. I really don't know what the labor rates would be. Belt replacement doesn't happen very often,, what happened to yours?

I picked up some rocks and there is some minor damage to the belt. The sprockets look ok so one of my spring projects is to replace the belt and add a SmoothSpyder tensioner.

It depends on how much your mechanic charges per hour. I have had my belt replaced 3 times due to rocks( live on a dirt road) cost about $400 ea time. Belt costs $300 give or take a buck or two. Advise you to get a Spyder pops belt guard keeps the back tire from putting a rock in the right spot on your belt. My last belt I replaced just because it had a hole in the middle of it where we had dug out the rock. Due to that the belt sorta slid sideways and made a terrific noise that drove me nuts. Put up with it for awhile but ended up keeping that belt but putting on a new one.

I don't live on a dirt or gravel road but in our area the road departments spread a lot of chat (small little gravels) on roads when it snows. it take this stuff a few weeks to work it s way off the roads. Ditto on spyderpops belt guard. Very inexpensive and very easy to install. Well worth it. My belt is good as new after 3 years.

I thought I read somewhere that the new smoothspyder tensioner also doubles as a belt guard, and there may not be room for a spyderpops belt guard using the new tensioner. Faulty memory or accurate?
