Default Vibration between 70 and 80 MPH?

Anyone else feeling a vibe around 70 to 80? Sometimes its lower 70s, sometime upper 70s to 80. It goes away with a little more speed. Feels different from the vibration I had on the 2011. Feels more like its coming from the engine. I will try to see what RPM it is when its doing it. Hopefully I can ride it this afternoon and tomorrow. Just seeing if anyone else is noticing it.

Yep, it still could be. I never put a tentioner on the 11. I just dealt with it. I just making sure its not something specific on my bike. Of course any time you bring it in for vibs, your gonna get "that's normal". Of course it could be weight related as well, im a big boy. Not saying that it is causing the issue, but it could make it more pronounced.

I feel vibration at 75+ in the handlebars and footboards. Others told me this was "harmonic vibration"

Since I ride, "low and slow", the only time that I ever experienced those vibes, was the trip to Springfield last April...
Again; here's hoping that it's nothing "out of the ordinary"...

Exactly where I feel it. Its the same way I felt the old one, but it feels different (or its been so long since I rode the old one I just forgot, lol). Maybe the larger belt makes it feel different or since the engine is totally different and it sits different. Wonder if I can get out of a ticket by explaining to the officer, it was vibrating at 80, so I went 90.

Seems common on 2014 RT's between 75-78 mph up hills, under load, etc.

Yeah, its the belt vibrating, just like my 2012 did. After a few thousand miles and several belt adjustments, my 2012 settled down, and I did not notice the vibes as much at freeway speeds. Under 70 it was not noticable at all, so as good as the 2014 seems to be, BRP still has the vibing belt issue. I'll just live with it.

I installed a smoothspyder tensioner on my 2013RT and it really took away vibrations that you are describing .

    Default Just a thought..!!

in the twins that vibration coming from engine area was sometimes the engine mounts. The tripple is one of the smoothest engines so seems unlikely. Harmonic vibrations are very hard to get rid of. I find where they are at and power thru or stay under. Shifting gears also helps. But wouldn't hurt to have things checked next time in...

I have the same vibration on mine. It happens at 70MPH and up. I notice it most at cruse and just a bit under power.

I will probably try a belt tensioner. Farkle

    Default Vibrations

Just got in from a 67 mile run, mostly interstate, so I had plenty of time to experiment. At first it could be noticed at about 74 on up to 76, 78. Never got much over that. Later on way home I barely noticed it. Either it diminished or I became oblivious of it. Got home and checked the belt with a Krikit and it was at 200 lbs. I had checked my '11 right after the belt was done in the shop and it read about 185. Don't know if the specs are the same for the '14 as before or not.

Filled up with my usual regular grade, 4.6 gal, and got 33.9 MPG. Throughout this tank I did some fairly high up and down RPM's in various gears for break-in purposes and didn't expect to get good mileage.

I got 34 on the first tank but wasn't sure how the shop had filled it so I discounted that number.

Could not be happier with this machine so far. Even the turn signal cancels like it should...what more could one ask?

My 2014 belt vibration starts between 75 & 85 mph, not sure of the rpm. My 2012 stated drive belt vibration between 70 & 80 mph.

I got the same at around 72-75. I usually go up a couple or down a couple. It is a different belt and we have been setting them by cricket to about 220. Make sure the belt alignment was set right also. Should be just slightly (1-2 mm) off the inner edge of the rear sprocket. Enjoy your bike! We love ours!!

    Default vibrations

Felt the same vibrations from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland and back this summer. Dealer says normal. I like the idea of another tensioner.

After you've had it for awhile, you'll likely get used to it and not even notice it anymore. At least I did!

Mine does it too. I had the dealer check the alignment and tension of the belt and it was within specs. I doubled checked the alignment, but not the tension (yet) and it was perfect.

Both mine and my wife's have this, around 80 and 4k rpm in top. I think it may be harmonics from the belt, it's a drive through vibration. Mine seems to be better with miles but it may just be me getting used to it.
