That says nothing about the area covered with ice. It says nothing about the melt rate, formation rate, or the size of the glaciers. The only information it contains is the content of impurities in the water, and the content of the air bubbles. Through modeling it provides a little information on the amount of precipitation year over year.

Moreover, neither the Antarctic ice core analysis nor the Greenland ice core analysis say anything about arctic sea ice coverage. This is because the North Pole is too far away from Greenland and Antarctica.

Don't confuse analysis of atmosphere with analysis of temperature. Some will say that the pollen in the ice can help with that. But be careful with that because there are lots of possible causes of the changes in pollens over time. Remember during the Roman Empire, wine grapes were grown in Brittan.

    Seriously?

Do you also think that Lamarkian learning occurs across generations?

How did you get to be so old? Just askin'...

...but Lamarckism is about inheritance overall. The learning aspect is just a small subset...a non-epigenetic inheritable trait, that is. Lamarckian learning was first claimed to be observed by Ivan Pavlov. However, in 1926 Pavlov stated that his experiments had a fatal flaw. In 1933 Dorcus replicated the experiments and did not make any findings in support of Lamarckian learning.

...my only reason for asking the question was due to the posters claim that the Earth is just a few thousand years old. I was attempting to ascertain whether the poster was for real or not.

I think it's totally absurd that people can actually believe stuff like that we come from tadpoles or monkeys or whatever the latest theory is, and that the world and universe are millions of years old.

I didn't say you had to believe me, we will each find out the second we die who was right, God or the theorist.

    Default Several Random thoughts

If the earth is getting warmer, I have a longer ryding season. What is the downside again?

I believe this is part of a cycle the earth goes through, and I am fairly certain we are all gonna die................someday.

I have also heard the info about the ice caps melting, dropping the water temp in the atlantic, and halting the gulf stream, causing an ice age in the Upstate New York area. Guess I will have to make sure I get that carb cleaned on the Ski-doo just in case.

I believe in God (yes I used the G-word). My theory is that the earth is a little terrarium he keeps in his office as a distraction for when he gets stressed.

I love to hear all of these opinions, because it gives me something to consider. They may not match my way of thinking, but they are worth mulling over at least. You never know, somebody else may have the answer.

Lastly I believe that I am not gonna be able to stop whatever it is, so I will just do what any other "big kid" would do and find a way to enjoy myself until I am called home.

If I get to heaven and find out there is reincarnation, I wanna come back as a pug.

    Just sayin'............
Three in the garage, and I think I can fit at least one more in.....and then we will have to build another garage.
The roads in NY are so bad that I am glad we bought a Ryker Rally

    Just sayin'............

My take on global warming is that is comes from many people w their hot air, speaking things they beleive in their hearts, but things which aren't true. Lol

Do you think that one of the methods could be to use mankind's ability to come up with and test ideas?

I don't think Al Gore is nuts, just real greedy and saw this mansion on the coast and wanted it badly. But first he needed some fast cash, so first claimed to have invented the internet and than came up with global warming and carbon footprints and went to work on his own carbon footprints. Flying everywhere around the world and once he had the coin he scared the previous owners, like "The Big Bad Wolf" into thinking the water is going to rise and wash your house away. Than he gave them a low offer on the mansion and told them either take it or wait for your insurance company and flood insurance to work out who pays for the rebuilding of your home. Well the previous owners wanted none of that, so took Gore's offer and split. So where is Gore now? He's still raking in the doe but not doing a thing but sitting on his huge carbon print enjoying the sights and sounds around his coastal mansion and laughing all the way to the bank to live off the interest of the money he made by getting a few scientists to cook their finding just a we bit.

Listening to the radio yesterday afternoon, the head meteorologist on the Weather Channel said this won't be the only cold spell this winter and we could see another one in 15 days from what he is seeing with water temps in the Pacific. He has said many times that weather patterns change and global warming, cooling or now the new term Climate Change has nothing to do with it. So who do I believe, not an ex VP or politician but someone who has studied weather and patterns his entire career.
