Eco Mode and Shifting RPM
I was reading the 2014 Owners Manual (don't ask how or I may have to kill you) and I couldn't find anything on how to operate Eco mode. Also I could only find one reference to what RPM to shift at and that was in the section where they tell you how to practice riding. Is it 3000 rpm?

Read owners manual?
That is like asking a man to read the directions for assembly or asking for directions when we get lost.

Maybe I should have posted this on the Lady's Forum. But seriously does anyone know what the recommended shift RPM is? Is it 3,000?

o Throttle map changes to a more progressive rather than linear acceleration .
o During hard acceleration there will not be an indication to shift – the ECM understands you are accelerating and will not recommend a shift at this time.
o Only when the vehicle speed and acceleration have stabilized for a certain time and the ECM judges there is enough engine torque available in the next gear to keep the same speed and acceleration will an upshift indication be displayed.

See page 31 in your Manual. Item 10 ECO Mode Icon. It explains how to turn ECO Mode on and off and to watch the lower left corner of the screen on recommended time to shift in ECO Mode.

The simple version is that holding the mode button in for 3 seconds turns it on and the up green arrows replacing the gear digit on the screen tells you when to up shift

Looks like they have you covered with the video. I am feeling like we will have to play with the system once the bikes are here, in order to figure out what we like best. It took me a while to join the "high revs" camp on the current RT's. Now we have to get used to "lower revs". Time will tell, and we will eventually get it figured out.

In the meantime; what would you think if I were to say that the 998 Spyder RTs will outrun the 1330s at Spyderfest in May?

My Chevy "Spark" has the same ECO Arrows but I have a manual shift and don,t follow the arrows!
When you start looking at Arrows that tell you when to shift you need to check into a nursing home?
