I visited the TireRack website, made the moves as if ordering a tire. Seems to me, if you read carefully there is a box that can be clicked that allows you to bypass all the info stuff.

Did you place your order on-line, or call them( Tire Rack)? Deanna

I put in 1970 Beetle when I ordered mine because you could pretty much have any tire size you want on that car.
NO, but I think you are right they maybe watching to see if my spyder will show up in the car section details. I will check an other source of mine. Deanna

Enough threads about what tires to buy and who likes what. Here in southern New Mexico the only dealer in 200 miles WILL NOT put any tire on other than a factory rubber.
Looking for anyone in southern New Mexico that has gone to the Dark side and found a source to replace the tires?

The tires from Vee Rubber... There were some early reports of "problems" with these tires. They seem to have cleared all of that up now.
They seem to hydroplane less than a lot of the other aftermarket choices. The tread pattern is similar to the OEM Kenda.
SpyderAnn01 ran one: you might want to PM her about them.
Bob, yes I will let everyone know what I think of tire after I have logged some saddle -time over it.................. I bought a General Altimax RT 43.
When I get a chance I will send SpyerAnn01 a pm about the tread pattern. Also I will post a pic of my new tire after I get it installed. Deannna

Tread patterns are one thing; the actual rubber compound used, is an entirely different matter.

I got my new tire installed today on my spyder, I could not feel the difference when riding, I had a Can-Am dealer install the new tire. The spyder handled the same when I went around corners, and straight away' s.
Also I am near 6,000 miles.
I have not ridden my spyder in the rain yet, I will post how the new tire handles in the rain.
The original tire( Kenda) had 5,829 miles. Deanna

KUMHO
I KUMHO'd MY F3-S TODAY......
the Kenda, aka: JUNK, was more than half gone with only 3000 miles....
I 1st put a KUMHO on my '09 RS in 2009.... i may have been the 1st to mount one... since then, there have been hundreds, maybe even a few thousand of us SPYD3R riders to put the KUMHO on the back (i have them up front too).... isn't it about time that BRP & DISCOUNT TIRE accept the fact that these SPYD3R's aren't required to have the Kenda tires on them....? the KUMHO's and even other brands that have been mounted, have proven themselves to be far superior, last longer, cost less, and out perform the OEM Kenda's that we were forced to accept from the factory....
COME ON BRP, WAKE UP AND SMELL THE KUMHO's......

....Dan, if only it were that simple.........The real fault lies with D.O.T. ( Federal )...they REQUIRE a Mtc tire be put on all Mtc's produced by ALL companies that are for sale to the public........Unfortunately ...Kenda was willing to STAMP Mtc on their lowest rated Passenger car tire and sell it to BRP , who at the time had very little money to do any bargaining with ......I purchased a " V ' RATED TOYO tire for $57.00 try and but a Spyder tire for that price ......Mike

This does NOT appear to be a trait shared by the OEM Kenda.
Other than a shorter service life (and some busted belts in them); has anyone found any other shortcomings with BRP's choice of tire?
I haven't seen it in here...
Mike is right; BRP has it's hands tied. They have to put a motorcycle tire on what legally is a motorcycle. We aren't so limited. But in our quest for a longer-lasting tire; are we sacrificing safety?
...just sayin'...
I keep hearing that the Kumho AST Ecsta hydroplanes, badly . . . and I just don't have that experience. I've had one on since last summer . . . close to 9000 miles on it, still plenty of tread, with the wear, even, all across the tire. I run 30 PSI in it (recommended by the Netzley Tire folks when I was at SpyderQuest last year. I've ridden in torrential rain, slightly wet roads, and everything in between . . . and haven't felt anything out of the ordinary. While any tire will hydroplane if the water gets deep enough and the speed, fast enough, I've ridden at highway speed in pouring rain with no issue.
Could the folks who have experienced hydroplaning, please provide some more details? What conditions . . . highways or secondary roads? How many miles did you have, what tire pressure were you running? That would be useful information.
To date, I am very happy with the tire's performance.
Regarding dealers, some are required by state law to only put motorcycle tire on vehicles classified as motorcycles . . . laws have not kept up with technology. My dealer is in a different state and West Virginia doesn't have that requirement, so I took mine to a local custom trike builder who changed and balanced the tire for me . . . after he watched the "How to" video on changing the tire without messing with the belt tension.
"Topper" is my Pearl White 2013 RT-LTD
