Default What is the advantage of running RT trailer mode?

I remember seeing a post suggesting running the bike in trailer mode to prevent lugging the transmission. As I understand it the bike won't go into lower or higher gear unless the RPM's are correct. What are the pros & cons? I am hoping some of the Spyder aficionados will chime in some sage advise.

It will also shift down faster automatically when slowing. Mine does. When starting it keeps in lower gear until rpm are up and prevent the lugging issue.

Would you recommend running in trailer mode? Any downside?

^ worth the read..... if you have not.

The SE in trailer mode down shifts at a higher rpm and disalows upshifts until above a specified rpm.

When an SE is in trailer mode, you can't upshift unless the RPMs in the next gear will be high enough that the clutch remains fully engaged (doesn't slip). Also, trailer mode will automatically downshift when the RPMs drop to the level that the clutch is beginning to slip.

In other words, trailer mode ensures you don't upshift too soon or downshift too late. I stay in trailer mode even though I don't have a trailer. It's free insurance against premature clutch wear.
