    Default NADA Guides

Have you checked NADA Guides? I've heard this one is considered to be more accurate than the others, at least by bankers and dealer friends. I always check several listings on craigslist to see what people are asking, but when it comes to borrowing money NADA is the go-to guide. KBB is another one, seems like they might be high at times. A used unit is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it! Book value is one thing, market value is yet another.

I read on this forum a few times that the RT limited Premiere is valued higher than the rest of the RT's, but a lot less than the original 2008 Premiere Editions.

The Premier editions only mean something to some Spyderlovers, On the used market they mean very little.
Similar to the Harley Anniversary editions, Unless you bought them' put them away as an mantel piece never to be ridden..

Dealers love NADA, because the banks will loan up to the full listed value. So, they can add tax, accessories, warranty and is some cases a super high profit margin and still get the bike financed. If you're selling to an individual, NADA means nothing. KBB will be much closer to the real price a private buyer is willing to pay. Interestingly enough, I'm yet to meet a dealer that doesn't try to sell off NADA and take a trade in using KBB or less.

Neither means much between October and April when most of the country has mothballed their rides and that's not just the Spyder. That's any motorcycle, RV, boat or anything else that goes into hibernation for the season. This year, things are a bit unique with so many dealers stuck with their 2013 inventory and subsequent rebates by BRP and others rushing toward the 2014s. That combination tends to make a mess of values. Things will settle back down come spring.

KBB values the RT Premier at about $1,000 more than the standard RT for 2010. I know, because I was looking for values.

All the various "blue books" are going to give you a ballpark price on value. I note that kbb does not even consider accessories. Your actual price is going to vary depending on a gazillion factors. Dealer, current inventory, motivation to sell or take trades, etc. etc. etc.

The fact that we have a lot of people getting ready to flood the market to dump 2013's or to upgrade to 2014 RT's is also a large factor. There are going to be way more trades out there than usual--making the values go down even further in most cases. The trade value of 2013's as well as the reduced out the door price on new, is very noticable. Those of us with non 2013's have also been adversely affected.

I was pretty gung ho on getting a new 2014 RT LTD--but am now back on the fence when I think I am going to have to pay $15K plus trade in my paid for, and perfectly running 2010 RT-S.

Decisions, decisions, decisions--and none of them easy.

Be nice folks. You have to let us live in our fantasy world sometimes.

Getting the extra money for the Premiers is a doubtful thing though. Just mentioning that the "books" say different.
