Three wheel scooter
Piaggio by Vespa web site: http://www.piaggiousa.com/scooters.html#!s=home/mp3-250
I saw this scooter on the Science Channel the other day. Vespa has worked out the steering for a rear wheel drive two front wheel machine that leans in the corners. It weighs under 600 pounds, has a 61” wheelbase and is 29.3” wide. Engine is a single cylinder 4 stroke liquid cooled three models ranging from 250 cc to 500 cc. Power is transmitted to rear wheel by what they call “Twist ‘n go” automatic CVT. 22 to 40 hp with a top speed advertised at 77 to 89 mph. Price range just over $7000 to just under $9000.
It is still a scooter, and Piaggio has a Typhoon 50 cc model that will get you around town for under $2K.
The MP3 did look cool on the road and in the turns.

The Piaggio MP3 has been around for quite a while. Fun ride, pretty interesting concept. It takes slow corners like nothing on earth...very tight figure-eights. Not enough guts for a touring machine, however. It also has some pretty complex mechanics and some maintenance and longevity issues from what I am told.

I have heard that, too.

Unless it just happened there are plenty of dealers on their Piaggio USA site.

Others..!!
are about as well. But most are for scurrying around town. They we build for European cities and streets. Agree they are not for touring and don't know how well they would handle the mountain twisties...!!
