If you wreck at 150 MPH, ATGATT isn't going to help you. Might as well be comfortable.

I know a guy who went down at 120 on a track with full gear and got up with only a couple of bruises. Not sure how comfortable he would have been in the same situation without the gear, but we all know our choices.

Eating a bug at high speed is one thing. Getting a june bug in the eye at high speed is a recipe for a crash, or if not, blindness. I may not wear a helmet every time I'm out, but I sure as heck wear protective eyewear.

I don't see how he could see where he was going at all while at full speed. A bug to the eye would have made sure would not be seeing where he was going for a long time.

This kind of riding reminds me of mine clearing by stomping forcefully on the ground you're going over. When you find the first one............................game over.
