Hello,
I recently purchased a 2013 RT limited and absolutely love the Spyder. Yesterday I dropped the RT off at the dealer for 600 mile maintenance planning to pickup the Spyder today. The dealer informed me they would install a tie rod recall and I asked them to test ride the Spyder as the steering feels a bit twitchy on many roads. Well minutes ago the dealer called with good and bad news. The good news the maintenance and tie rod items are complete. They test drove the Spyder and said it is handling fine. The dealer then informed me of the recall indicating they cannot even sell new impacted Spyders until the recall fix has been applied. The dealer recommended they keep my RT until it can be repaired; I could pick it up but would have to sign a waver. The dealer indicated there are a few kits available and they are working to get as many as possible ASAP. I am disappointed to say the least as in the Rochester NY area the riding season is short and I was looking forward to picking up the RT and doing a lot of riding this weekend. The dealer promised to call me by the end of next week with a status update. I understand the issue and hope BRP can get parts out right away. To be honest this has me a bit worried about the overall long term reliability of my RT - I am probably just venting some mixed feelings as this news is minutes old.
