Default Sydee got a "Boo Boo"

Was out for a nice casual drive Monday afternoon going approx. 20 mph through a quaint rural village when someone chooses to not stop at the stop sign. The bike that was following my "hunter" said he passed him back the road going about 70 mph and figures he sailed through the stop sign going about 40 as he did "tap" his brakes for a split second before he "gunned" it at me. I have a stable fracture of my C1 Vertabrae in my neck, road rash on my knees and arms and face. Bruises and pulled and stretched muscles everywhere. But I am alive to type about it....................So I only have few things for us A) If you are not a big fan of wearing a helmet check out mine B) On a 2 wheeler I think I am dead as the Spyder's front wheel took the majority of the forces C) These things can take a sheet kickin D) I am one fortunate SOB that gave the wife and kids a little extra hug when I got home from the hospital. Ride Safe and be aware.............Spydee Ouch 6.jpgSpydee Ouch 5.jpgSpydee Ouch 2.jpgSpydee Ouch 1.jpgBrain Bucket.jpg

Ouch. Glad to hear that you are OK relativly speaking... I can attest that helmets and all of the other safety gear are definitely worth wearing. My wife's gear took the brunt of her crash too when some dude turned in front of her
Luckily she didn't break any bones. Just bruised and banged up...(2 wheeler at 50mph).

Gear certainly saves lives and prevents more serious injuries.

Again, very glad to get you are relatively OK.

    Default Helmets

Well in the great Republic of California, we have no choice on helmets, and quite frankly it is one law I am happy about, glad you are on the mend.

    WOW
Glad you didn't get smacked when he was doin 70 or whatever.
I don't know what some of these dudes are takin or snorting or drinking. Just yesterday I had a guy pull out into the road from the right side. I saw him look right at me, i am doing all of maybe 37 or something. Just as I was coming in front of him, he starts to pull out. I jammed on the brakes and so did he, as he turned rapid to the right and stopped 1/2 way into the road. I didn't say a word, just sat there shaking my head for a few seconds. He wouldn't even look at me, the ........

I am downplaying it as my better half has suggested moving forward for the sake of matrimonial happiness this should be considered my last Spyder or motorcycle. Yeah it got pretty banged up for sure, I actually am hopeful they don't fix it as a rebuilt Spyder like this one would be has very little value in a marketplace where full disclosure is a legal requirement. I think I want to ride again, have done it for 30 years or so and I was really enjoying the Spyder ownership experience. I also learned from my neighbour I was not lucky to see another day I was fortunate. There was no luck anywhere in the experience.

    Default BOO BOO

First and foremost is your safety and well being! Take your time to recover. We (SL) are all glad you're up an about after this frightening experience.

The Roadster can be repaired or replaced. I agree with you on the discloser issue. If the frame is bent (which I think it is by the looks of the front wheel) they will probably total it. Push your insurance Co. for a total and comparable replacement. They are on your side to battle with the other guy's Insurance.

You were lucky the Spyder was hit in the front end and not the middle.

Glad you'r OK so to speak. That front wheel sticking out to the side is a big safety factor in an accident. I'm glad the car did not hit another foot further back.

Glad your OK. I am an avid helmet wearer. Someone once told me when I asked, "What should I wear when riding?" I was told to cover and/or protect any part of my body that I enjoy having.

Buttsy, so glad you're not seriously injured. I would however suggest that you get a second opinion SOONER rather than later. To my limited medical knowledge there is NO SUCH THING as a "stable" C1 fracture Please seek a second opinion from a nerurosurgeon

Wow, that is scary. I'm glad you are here to tell us about it and I hope you heal quickly. My husband is a MSF Instructor and he likes to tell his students that you don't get to pick the day you crash so always wear your gear.

Wow Buttsy that don't look like fun at al. Glad you are OK (so to speak). You can watch out for the fools but not all of them. Did he get a ticket> They should have taken him to jail. No telling what would of happened to your precious wife if she had been with you.
