You may have accidentally paused it. When it says RESUME it is on pause. When it says PAUSE, it is on.

Pushing the UP arrow pauses the trip and the DOWN arrow resets the trip.

You should have to pause or resume it. If it is accumulating normally, you can simply erase (reset) either one (or both). If it says "Resume" you have inadvertantly paused it. It needs to say "Pause" to be registering.

Can you imagine having light switches that show the word ON when they are off and OFF when they are on?

I can't either and you can't blame it on the French to English translation.
Penny and Rick have owned many motorcycles starting in 1974 with Honda’s, then to Suzukis, Gold Wings and ultimately Spyders.

It is a bit different here. With verbal instructions you would tell someone either to RESUME (start back up) or PAUSE (stop). With written digital instructions it is much the same, hence the display we have. One answer would be to show both commands, and highlight the active one. As an alternative the active state could be shown alone, but it should say something else, like "Paused" and "Active", unfortunately then the means of changing it would not be obvious.

I chuckled. Picturing the Spyder saying "My 6inch backlit LCD screen is saying 'No' but my IEEE Syntac-Resistored Processor is saying 'Yes'."
