Default There is a down side to farkleing.

Believe it or not, there is a down side to farkeling. And, I'm not takling about the economics. While at Lamonts BBQ we had Diamond R install their luggage rack on our RT Limited. I really didn't want it, but the wife thought we needed the ability to carry more stuff. Since I really didn't want it I told her that if she insisted, it had to be chrome, not the black one. This was a ploy to get her to change her mind since the chrome cost a bunch more. Well it didn't work. We have the chrome one.

It does look really good though. Now, here is the down side. Last week I went to cover the Spyder with our travel cover and it don't fit any more. Between the Corbin arm rests and the luggage rack its 10 inches too short.

So while I've been typing the the wife has been modifying the cover to fit. She has added length and is going to modify how it fits around the antennas and my flags. Photos to come.

So I' m back to continue .... One of the things she is going to do is fix the antenna hole. It will be replaced with a slot that closes with velcro so I don't have to bend the antenna when putting the cover on. It will also wrap around my flag mounts. She's back on the sewing machine doing that mod now as I type and watch her.

I have the Diamond R Chrome Trunk Rack with the Diamond R Armrests. I also have the BRP Travel (Half) Cover. The cover is a little tighter and a little shorter but still works fine. The antanne hole still fits perfectly over my shortee antanne. The difference may be your Corbin Armrests...not sure about that. An advantage to the Diamond R Armrests is that when not in use they will fold inward towards the center of the passenger seat. This gets them out of the way of the cover.

But good luck on your customized cover. You're fortunate to have such a talented wife. Be sure to post a pic.

Here are some pictures. First is the new luggage rack from Diamond R. The others are the travel cover modifications.

The 'bump on the right side is where the Corbin cup holder is located.

Alright I just checked the "My Mod" thread attached to Dr Buck's profile. Considering he has not updated it for a couple of months the list has grown longer. I personally believe it is now official ..................Dr Buck is out of control. He actually has now begun to refarkle the farkles, there has to be professional help we can get for a fellow Spyderlover with an obvious "issue".
