So sorry to hear this. Wonder if it was an RS, RT or ST. I'm sure the photo on the story was just some stock photo they found.
Hate hearing about these accidents.

My prayers for these folks . . . just so sad. I used Google Maps to look at the location . . . fairly gentle curve, good looking road . . . you have to wonder what led to this . . . too many hours riding? . . . another vehicle that crossed into their lane? . . . or just a momentary lapse of attention . . . wish there was some way to know, because when something like this happens, if you know why, it helps other to avoid similar problems. Ride safely, folks.

I live in that area and I know the road very well. There is no real explanation for it. It it a very good reminder that while we love our hobby, it is an awesome responsibility we undertake. Perhaps that's why we do it. Drive safe all.

My guess; and it's only that, is that they were talking and got distracted from the task at hand...
There was no mention of a medical emergency causing the accident...
No mention of other vehicles that may have left the scene either...

There was no mention because they have no evidence that would point to a Medical emergency Yet !!!!, However the OP was 73 so it's certainly not out of the possibility.....I have friends and will see if I can get better info.......although the Bears up here are very tight mouthed ......Mike

So sad, my condolences to their family.
Like anywhere in the US, Vermont rural roads can be tricky and require constant vigilance. I've had plenty of close calls.
Ride safe everyone.
