Don't have the SE5 but isn't there a thread or two on SL that explains that there is no need to roll the throttle off when you shift 'cause at the moment the shift occurs the Spyder does it for you?

Keep the pedal down and paddle the shifter.

    Default Wait a Minute.........

Are you saying that it isn't necessary to roll off the throttle when changing gears in an SM5? Exactly how does that work?

The posters above are talking about the SE5. You do it differently on the SM5.

When I had the SE, I never rolled off the throttle. Now, on SM5, I actually do and found it to shift smoother this way.

SM5, like any traditional manual bike, you roll off the throttle pull in the clutch, change gear and as you ease off the clutch you roll on the throttle again. You can do a mid throttle burp to match the revs on a down shift of course.

SE5 semi automatic, no need to roll off, just keep on the throttle, hit the paddle and the system does it for you a lot quicker and smother. Shifting down the bike will do this for you but of course you can use the paddle as well, normally your rolling off the throttle as you slow down. You can stay on the throttle if you want to kick... Err I mean finger it down a gear to over take or climb a step hill.
