Thinks out loud
Is it possible they are a weak link for a reason. What fails, when, if they do not?

Interesting..!!
BajaRon was running a survey on this subject looking for those that have had this exact thing happen. Wants to see if there would be a market for pretty much what you made up. Looks like you have found a good solution and very simple to DIY..thanks for doing all the leg work and sharing. I'm sure you have helped a lot of folks who will benefit from this...!!

While a breakage is bad, i think that a stronger part may bend the upper frame attachment point. I am not an engineer so i will wait and see what folks post.

They could have intended that the swaybar end link function as a shear-pin in a Hay baler does...

Well if "The Boss" is saying that it looks good; please tell us all more!

One wonders if this wouldn't be a good preventative measure at the time a BajaRon sway bar was added??

But do you think that this setup would be stronger than the OEM plastic?

I think pretty much any option would be better than the stock option.

Ill go ahead and tell yall what to buy to permanently fix. Get two 5/16 fine thread tie rod ends and a grade 8 bolt with enough thread to cut off and join the two tie rods together Now butt them together and it will be the exact length as the plastic junk that comes on the spyder....
Ill post pictures later.....
I have no internet yet at the cabin in tellico plains. I am buying a verizon myfi and hopefully ill be online shortly.

What year Spyder do you have? Looks different than mine. I am definitely thinking this maybe the way to go as I am sometime a very aggressive rider and don't need plastic determining my destiny.

Lamont we were on the same channel. I started pondering what would work and it looks like we almost matched solutions. I am putting them on both my spyders.
Here is a side by side of them. Also, as long as you change both sides at once you will be ok. The new steel setup is a 1/8 inch longer. If I were at home I would have ground it down but after installing it. I realized that it doesn't matter about length as. Within a reasonable distance.

Do you think it was the stress of the new sway bar on the OEM plastic coupler that caused the part to break?
