erasing preset stations on a Can-AM RT-S Radio
I just purchased a 2011 Can-AM RT-S and love it. I have discovered one problem however that I have not been able to figure out. The previous owner set 12 of the 15 preset stations for his area. I have been able to add 3 for my location but I cannot figure out how to erase his presets.
Anybody figure this out?

Good luck with that. I have a 2013 RT LTD with the same problem. At some point I may disconnect my battery to see if that will erase all of the presets so that I can start over.
-
I think I remember from some previous discussion that there is no way to erase a preset station (DUMB - DUMB - DUMB) and that you can only overwrite them.
Now is that stupid or what?

I have even had the problem where station information will update the display and will not let me set the pre-set to one of the higher numbers. This is not a very user friendly design for the radio's user interface.

Disconnecting the battery will not clear them, I tried.

You have to overwrite them. It's a major pain too. There for sure is a bug here in the software.
What will happen is once you tune in the radio station manually and press the down arrow to set it, when your scrolling through the preset numbers, "sometimes" it wont let you do it and the number keeps going back to the last open preset or to preset 1.
The tip I found is set ALL the presets so there is none left (I used very high station numbers to do this). Then it seems to let you overwrite anyone you want. Also do not set a preset and then try to set the same radio station to another preset. e.g. setting 2 to the same station. It wont let you do that.
Again the code here is super flaky!

Overwrite only.
I use this procedure from the Quick Reference Booklet and it works for me to overwrite. I have not found a way to erase.

Thanks for all of the great feedback!
It's reassuring to discover that I'm not the only one having this problem. It doesn't fix the problem, but it is allows me to let it go.

THANK YOU!
I thought I was the only one who was having so much trouble with the radio. It drives me crazy!!!!
Maybe with these instructions I can manage to change that.

What was causing this to occur for me is when I was setting a station that published "information" (e.g. song name, artist, etc.). Once the display would update to show the information it would reset to preset 1. Very bad design for the the user interface. Obviously the people who build the radio has not used it.

I know your not happy with you BRP experience but why bring everyone else that is enjoying themselves down?
Do you really have that much time on your hands and hate, to spend that much time on bringing negative?
Just sayin.....
Sometimes a positive attitude can bring happiness!

Dave,
No offense, but I have enjoyed most aspects of my Spyder. The only thing that I am disappointed in is the radio and comm system. I would have expected more for those. However, I have had nothing but good experiences with the rest of the bike.
I sincerely hope you find the root of your issues and get them worked out so you can enjoy your ride as much as the majority of us do.

You can preset????I am lazy and just push the right arrow to get the next station that I can hear, If I don't like it I push it again.

can not be done the definitive answer
So with this question coming up quite a bit, I emailed the radio manufacture/supplier of the BRB radio's
This is their response and I guess John Smith really does exist. (I altered the email so it couldn't be scraped)
You cannot delete preset radio stations. But you can overwrite any station in memory with another station of your choice. Even is there was a way to reset the radio, there would be default stations stored in each memory location.
If you have any other questions, I will be happy to assist you.

Personally I have never set a preset I just use the scan feature to locate a station as I travel (when not using the iPod).

Like the fact that it will only control Ipod crap! Do they think everybody owns apple junk? Even my 02 Wing would control a standard MP3 player!

How do you get it to scan to another station not on preset. Mine will only scan to the next preset station. I am limited to about 5 stations with no way to search and add more. This is the only frustrating thing I have had to deal with. My Spyder is trying very hard to make me like country music since that is the only station it will let me listen to.

I've tried that. It doesn't even change stations doing that. I guess I will just have to live with country music.

In FM, AM, XM, WX mode. A short press of left or right button takes you to next or previous preset. A long press will seek up or down to active station.

I've never been able to change an existing preset untill all the slots are filled. Just add a new one for the station you desire. It is a crummy setup, but it is all we have available.
