My bet is you are right. Around here when a rear ender happens, police check the persons cell number to see if any text was sent at the time of the accident and if so, they are charged. Cell records can show if this was a texting related accident. It is illegal here in Ca to text and drive but every day I see young people doing it all the time! I am a tech nut too and I do text a bit but never when driving! It's just stupid and there is NO REASON that some text message cant wait until you have the time!

I will add my prayers and best wishes/hope for times to come. There is not a lot anybody can do if they are about to get hit in the rear.

When I called only the nurse would talk to me since I am not family but I did ask her to pass on that all the Spyderlover's are giving well wishes.

While we don't yet know for sure on this case, it is very likely. IMO texting while driving is posing a much greater danger than drinking due to the wider group that will potentially do it. I know for myself personally, my recent close calls have all been due to distracted drivers who were texting. I almost got hit head on the other day by a texting driver. I saw him coming halfway into my lane from a long way off. I got as far off the road as I could and he looked up and swerved back to his lane at the last minute. Dangerous stuff.

Regardless of the reason, prayers go the Tallmans.

For what it's worth, NC SHP will be concentrating on inattentive drivers this weekend.

My prayers go out to to Steve and Carla

Too many of these accidents being posted I also see many drivers texting. Hard not to, they drive slow and jerking back and forth in their lane.

I talked to a guys today at lunch. It was his first day back to work after 6 months after being rear ended by a texting 20 year old girl with minimum insurance. He was in an Expedition and still got busted up very bad. I hate to think what could happen on a bike of any kind.

Sending my prayers to them and wishing them a full recovery. I hate to hear of motorcycle accidents it brings back painful memories, I was in one 1994 a drunk driver pulled out in
front of me and i flipped off of my bike. I had 8 hours of surgery 4 doctors operating on me. 50/50 chance of living thru the night. Since then i have had 16 reconstructive surgeries. Implants, titanium rods, screws, you name it. When the accident happen i was not wearing my helmet,But i was about to pull over to put it on. 2006 was when i got another bike and i always wear safety gear even if i ride a half a mile. For those of you that never wear helmets and safety gear, PLEASE START ! If not for yourself do it for your family, They would love to have you in this world a little bit longer. BE SAFE OUT THERE !!!!
