I did jack my bike up...
I did get that first tab on the outside edge of the casting...
The pedal seems to move freely; it just stops right before that clicks...
Some trimming of the shield was mentioned; does anybody have a description of where to cut? (Besides my own throat? )
Did you drop and reinstall the brake rod?
-
Yes I did...
Well... I dropped the front half of it anyway...
The Missus will be home any minute now; my time is growing short on this Planet...

Up front; the tab is between the casting and the Tupperware that catches that allen bolt
Next; there' that hunk of it that slides to the outside and away from the brake rod
Then it comes back inside, and theres a slot in it that engaged a tab on the casting
I took a close look up at the pivot for the brake pedal; a piece of the the shield almost reaches up to it... almost!
From there to the back of the shield; it completely clears the brake rod and pivots with lots of room...
I'm stumped!
Back off on the front screw where it's sandwiched. Wiggle the shield around some to see if it finds a more comfortable home and allows the brake to fully return. Just an idea?

Brake pedal return spring hooked up?

No CHANGE!!
The brake rod would seem to be the only other involved part...
What can you screw up on that?
One...the pin is not all the way through...you can get it in far enough to get the clip back on without it being all the way through. That would shorten the brake rod.
Two....and I can't visualize this part. But, did you twist the adjuster rod even one turn?

I've worked out a plausible tale of woe for the Missus... I might survive this yet!
In the meantime; I've hooked my Battery Tender up so as to try and preserve the Battery's innards...
Anybody else have any ideas?

Did you somehow bend the brake light contact switch.
If you can't wedge the brake pedal up enough to turn the brake light off. It's gotta be switch related. I would think.

Pull the plug on the brake switch until you can finger things out.

Well I have to admit that I might have had a stray thought pass by that involved burning the garage and blaming it on my truck...

Blame it on BRP and then start a thread blaming it on BRP and then go out and buy a GW.
Of course we couldn't call you wing nut; we'd have to call you nut job.
Just think, this would never have happened if BRP had just offered those heat shields as factory installed. I just don't know where BRPs' heads are at.
