It is real. It's a statue in front of the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa, Ontario. It's name is Maman (mother)...how appropriate for the picture !

Monique, that weather forecast is very depressing. We won't get as much as you, but they are calling for snow here in southern Ontario tonight and tomorrow as well. I mean, come on, it isn't even freakin' November yet!
Oh, and for the Spyder name, mine is "Red October." Took delivery on October 11, and lovin' her ever since. Put 1100 kilometres on her the first weekend I had her.

That is a great name - hope you get to ride it some more before the snow comes your way.
Oh and YES .... I am very unhappy to report that the nasty white stuff has been coming down since about 5 PM in the Ottawa area - looks like the forecast was right ....about 3 inches down so far.

I called mine "Slithering clump of puppy crap" once When my foot slipped off the emergency brake and I hit my leg on the peg.
Other than that it is just. "Spyder"
I know not too creative.

Thank you guys for bringing this thread back
Thanks for the replys! Any body know "Spyder" any language than English or Lakota? In my early life in the AZ desert -I probably heard it in Apache, Pima, Mexican, maybe Cherokee but don't remember any of them. Maybe someone from "the old country" could name one in High German or maybe one of our northern riders could give the French version?
I remember many a Japaneese household with a very large "Kumo" keeping any small insects under control.
Thanks again for the replies.

I used a language translation program and here are the answers I got. I used Dutch and French first as those are my ancestral languages
Dutch=Spin ( I like this one)
French=Araignée
Norwegian=edderkopp (This one is for my husband)
Italian=Ragno
Spanish=Araña
Portuguese=Aranha
Russian=Спайдер
Greek=Αράχνη
Chinese=蜘蛛
Japanese=くも
Korean=거미
Swedish=spindel
Croatian=pauk
Czech=pavouk
Danish=edderkop
Finnish=hämähäkki
Polish=pająk
Romanian=păianjen
Sorry I do not know how to pronounce the words with symbols, as I find more I will post those as well.

Great stuff! For those who don't understand Russian, Спайдер is pronounced Spyder (with an accent and a rolled R). Cool, huh?
