    Default Rotary Drive Belt Tensioner

Has anyone installed a belt tensioner. I see a sponsor SmoothSpyder sells one for an RT. Would love to hear any feedback. Thanks.

I put one on my 09 RS and would say it is a must for my bike. It eliminated 80-90 percent of the vibration. I had it at the dealer for a recall and they were amazed b it's effect.

    Default Works well..!!

It works well and I like the fact that the belt tension can be less strain on the output shaft and wheel bearings..

    Default Rotary Drive Belt Tensioner

We put one on our 2012 RT, got rid of all vibration, a must in my opinion.

With some mods you don't get a big improvement for your money but a belt tensioner really makes a difference. The drive belt is long and placing a sprung tensioner pulley against it about half way along its run reduces the belt's tendency to vibrate (oscillate) up and down. I found the transmission vibration of my RT was particularly harsh on overun as I decelerated at speed using throttle roll-off. Once the tensioner was fitted the up and down movement of the belt was effectively damped, reducing belt vibes throughout the whole transmission. Fitting a belt tensioner is a great improvement, BRP should have gotten around to fitting one as standard on new Spyders by now, IMO.
