I have a 1550 lb rated ATV / M/C lift, as well as some car ramps. I'm considering rolling the front wheels up the ramps, then slide the lift underneath and raise the trike completely with the lift.
has anyone ever done this...? or am I about to FUBAR something by trying this?
I have thought about using my ATV ramps, on my 1,500# Northern Tool lift - just haven'f figured out how to lift the rear wheel ---- Hmmm, perhaps truck jack stands under the front, while lifting the rear??

As you can see by bmwlarrys 3rd photo, the Spyder can be raised completely by just using an ATV/Cycle jack. Once in the air you can put jack stands under the front a-arms and rear shock for stability.

Recommend placing the rear jack stand under the frame forward of the rear shock.

J&S sent me an email after I had inquired about there jacks and they said they don't feel comfortable recommending any of there jacks to lift a Spyder.
I have and use the Pitbull motorcycle jack. Bought it originally for my Goldwing, but found it works well on both our Spyders. Collapses low enough to get under with no problems and raises higher than most.

I feel perfectly comfortable with the J&S jack with my spyder. I really don't wheel it around much on it. For balance, I always remove all the gear from the rear side bags. When in the air, I use jack stands under the front and a floor jack under the rear tire. IMG_4916fb.jpgIMG_4917fb.jpgIMG_4918fb.jpg

I just used my ATV ramps to get my front wheels 30" off the ground, and my NT ATV jack to lift the rear - If I put a second bar in the rear, to cradle the rear wheel, I think I can get the whole bike up 30" off the deck.
I'll add some picts, after I get this accomplished…. all in, around $200, including the NT lift, and it all comes apart for storage.

I know this is an old thread ... but BMWLARRY's pics of the J&S Jack and the RT are featured and someone commented that they did not make an adapter for the Spyder. Well ... now they do. AND ... they offer superior customer service! Briefly:
We have a unique situation with my husband and I -- he has a 2016 Indian Roadmaster (my Christmas gift for the next decade or so ) and I have a 2012 Spyder RT Limited. J & S makes adapters for the Indian and a completely separate jack for the Spyder -- it looks similar, but the top rails are a bit different in that they offer more of a platform than just two rails. So, I called J & S to inquire if we could get the Spyder Jack and just use the Indian adapters on it .... no, sorry they said ... but here is what we can do. They offered a custom order where we purchased the standard J&S MC jack along with the Indian adapter and a Spyder "adapter" that would be specially drilled to replace the original rails; pins included for easy install. Thus:
When we want to lift the Indian, we just drop the adapters onto the existing rails and voila -- Indian lift!
When we want to lift the Spyder, we remove the existing rails and use the included pins to put it's adapter on and voila -- Spyder lift!
Also, when the lift arrived ... the bottle jack relief valve stem was snapped off clean (and nearly flush) with the housing. A quick phone call and new bottle jack is on it's way with return shipping label included.
Note that I talked with Tanner at J & S Jacks and I highly recommend them -- both for their product and their customer service.
As always ... be safe ... Ann

I was the one in post #2. I have since contacted J&S and bought a spyder adapter that simply replaced the two bars with a new top support. I found this unusable as it was made for the 998 model bikes. I have been in touch with them and they are currently designing a new support replacement for the my 2015 RT 1330. I am just going to exchange the spyder attachment for the new revised adapter when it is released.

I have a lift that was built by Advance Lifts. It was originally used at the Harley factory in York PA. I bought it from a machinery salvage yard. I extended the length and made a slip on adapter for the front wheels so that the RT will fit on it. It is air powered and picks up the RT with no problem.
I believe the PitBull and J&S are very similar in build as well as function, quality and cost.
And, yes as posted, the floorboards are Seal Floorboards and instal in about 10 minutes. Great quality as well as service. Also for those that need them, John is in facing financial issues since he spent time in ICU that insurance wouldn't cover. Your purchase would be a big help! Just sayin!

I would really appreciate any advice or photos underneath for placing this jack under the spyder rt. Tough for me to tell exactly how to do this safely and without damaging anything. Thanks!

If you look under your spyder there is a frame bar (for lack of a better word) that runs pretty much from the front to the back it is about 4" wide and maybe 38" long, this is part of the frame and that is what you position the jack under, of course if you position it towards the front, it lifts the front, position it towards the rear, and it lifts the rear, get it in the center, and it lifts the entire bike (Be extra careful with this position as it may be unsteady if not positioned properly.

Later edit... oops I just noticed that this is a three year old thread that someone revived again. Oh well, it's still useful info.
I had a Craftsman Jack like the picture. They work great. Deanna
