Default Question for the American Spyderlovers

Did you send off for your 5k, 25k, etc pins when you hit 5000 miles or kilometers? (Did you even send off for it at all?) The Welcome Packet says kilometers, but Erags thought we should stick with miles since that's what we use in the States. I think he just wants me to wait longer! LOL. I should be over the mark after tomorrow's PGR mission and various errands.

I did for my 5000 miles on my past RS, but never got the pin. Might do it for my current RT, but don't expect to get that one either.

What happens when you get a new cluster and your mileage goes back to 0?

Happened to my wifes 2010 RT twice.

She should have 20,000 + Miles but it says 8,000 miles

    5,000 MILES.

And I am OH SO CLOSE to hitting 25,000.

Had I gone to the Dragon in October as planned, I would have made it.

Instead, I took my vacation time and got a new knee.

Oh well, there's always next year.

I was thinking the same thing. My cluster went out and when Cowton replaced the new one my mileage started over at 0. On one hand I now have a 2011 RT with very low mileage but lost a year of riding towards a pin.

I would rather have the low mileage Spyder, but by the time I sell my RT it won't matter much.

I send in the require items and got the 5K pin. Now I've put over 10K and it's time to submit again.
I just wish I could get the owner's patch and pin!

This happened to mme so i took a photo of the dealer checking my bike in at 18,622 miles from the invoice showing the date and a photo of my new cluster when the two added up to just over 25k combined. I sent that in and they sent me out a pin

I took the requisite photo of the odometer showing 5,000 miles but inadvertently deleted the other requisite photo of me and my from my camera. Haven't gotten around to getting another photo taken with my . Have just over 7,000 miles now...will apply for the pin when I get the photo evidence in hand.

    Default 5K pin

Yes I did get the 5K pin after 5,000 miles. I submitted my pictures after a few rounds of communication with BRP due to web site issues. I did receive the pin within a couple of weeks after we resolved the web issues.

The dealer should make a note of it on your records.
All of my service invoices add 12,500 miles to the odometer reading because the cluster was changed at 12,500 miles.
I was told, in order to get the 25K pin, you submit the odometer reading as well as a copy of the repair invoice from when your cluster was changed.

I only applied for the 5K MI pin. The pin actually says MI on it I believe. Between 2 bikes I have over 40K mi. Hey Doc, how many miles do you have now?

It is at 5K, 25K, and 100K. You have to register your VIN number of the Spyder at http://www.spyder.brp.com/home
Then take a pic of the odometer, and yourself with your Spyder.

I have complained about the pin problem with BRP a few times. I can't even register the new 2011 because there is already a 2010 registered at my e-mail and address. They don't accept "two spyder" families I guess.

I gave up on pins from BRP long long ago. Cat Specialties a sponsor, has very nice patches with mileage and even can be ordered in colors to match your spyder. I recommend that option. You don't even need a note from somebody to "prove" your mileage.

I have my 50,000 mile patch and akspyderlady has her 10,000 mile patch--and they look pretty good--no thanks to BRP.

I sent in for my 5,000 mile pin with the required pictures, it got it in about a month.
A very generous fellow member here donated one to my Missus since she's certainly logged as many miles as I have; but in the navigator's perch!

Had the same problem when we purchased my 2012. I did get the 5k pin for the 2010 RT but it took a few tries and about five months. Not going to worry about it for the 2012.

Our RT has 3261 miles (compared to Ed's GS with just under 32,000); not too bad for 8 weeks. The BRP paperwork says the pins are for 5000, 25000 and 100000 kilometers but I guess I'll stick with the consensus opinion and wait till I hit 5000 miles. I consulted a km/mile conversion chart and I've got enough kilometers! We never did send off for the 25k pin for the RS. It's been hard to log in riding miles with Ed's chemo but he's "off" until the 26th. We're planning a PGR ride tomorrow. Should be a bit chilly (mid-50s) but at least the sun is supposed to be out. Have a Merry Christmas, everyone!
