    Insurance guy here...
Godd job getting some pictures of this whole mess!
You've been running on adrenaline; once that wears off you'll start to feel the effects of what must have been quite a whiplash to your spine... Take it easy, and go heavy on the painkillers...

    Fellow Spyder Accident Participant here...
I hope that everybody noticed that the bike was upright and he stayed on it... Just a little more proof that these trypods play better under less than ideal circumstances than our two-wheeled friends do!
Now get your self healed and the tackle the insurance issues... Good Luck to you in both regards!

Wow scary stuff. The main thing is you are ok.The bike can be replaced.3 wheels certainly seems to have saved the day.I hate to think of the outcome if you had been on 2 wheels.

    Wow that is ugly
This brings back bad memories. I was rear ended in 1982 on the freeway at the same speed on my XL500 but didn't fair as well. I'm glad you're okay but take it from me, make sure you get checked out including back X-ray's. I didn't and wound up with back issues from that wreck that I didn't know I had till a couple of years later.

I'm glad you are OK. Scary pictures man, I would have thought anyone would fly over the Spyder's windshield if hit like that. Get yourself a good check up and that RT replaced Good luck.

Glad your OK, that looks really bad. Interesting how the front bumper of the taxi went over the rear tire and crushed all of the rear bags, almost like a crumple zone, wonder if this took most of the kinetic energy rather than having that energy go more through the rear tire and frame. Definitely a scary picture.

First of all Praise the Lord you are OK and from one RC to another, thank you for your service with PGR. They always put us trikesters in the back even if we weren't assigned to sweeps. I just hope you had no passenger. My wife would freak out, like, forever after something like this. I was wondering if the backrest for the rider would help or not in accidents like this, considering the force was enough to knock of your mirror (unless the dealer didn't put it on right at setup...mine didn't), would it increase the severity of whiplash?

Glad to see you are ok! Thanks for the pics and good luck with the insurance!
Like most everyone has posted, make sure you get yourself checked out, especially your back. I was in an accident years ago in which I was t-boned. Although both of us drivers came out ok, days later I had neck pain and the other driver had broken bones on his feet which he didn't feel the pain at first, only saw brusing. I ended up going to PT for my neck and the other driver wore a foot cast for months.
May all your encounters with the law begin with the words: "nice trike!".[/B]

Wow! Scary looking scene. I'm certainly glad you are OK, and glad you were on a Spyder. Very disturbing that the cab driver's word would be taken for 60 mph when the evidence indicates otherwise. I'm surprised at the lack of a citation. Michigan is a no-fault state, but citations are still issued.

First thought. Hope you're really OK. Second thought after looking at the pictures. You're very fortunate you didn’t have a passenger....or, they are. Hope for your sake they total it. No telling what the frame has been subjected to. Wow!!

Can't believe you didn't go flying off your RT with that kind of hit. Praise God you're OK and that your wife wasn't on back. Couldn't imagine how bad it might have been. Thanks for your PGR service - I sure admire the dedication of all the riders I know in that group.

    Glad you are ok, bud.

Question, though. The first and second pictures, the cab front was into your rear, but before the Spyder got pulled on the flatbed, the rear wheel was back on. Am I missing something?

Comments about the adrenaline is spot on. Everyone's bodies respond differently. The most important item the next few weeks is your body, not the bike (It is a close 2nd of course ).

Glad you are okay, but look at it this way.. If they total it, you'll be able to get a 2013 with the new suspension and everything...

Geeesh, someone hits you in the rear, it's their fault.

But, that aside, you are one lucky dude. Thank goodness you weren't on your Goldwing or that you wife was riding with you. Hope you check out OK.

Did the cabbie have a fare who may have paid extra to "get me to the airport fast" ?

How many times have you heard, "I'm glad that I'm okay."
And then they're in the emergency room that night or the next day???
