    Default Helmets?????????

I just have to ask....why does each and every single Spyder ryder I have seen so far, use a full face helmet?

As a long time 2 wheeler with both full face (sports bikes) and shorty helmets for all of the cruisers, I have yet to see a Spyder rider with a shorty....

Can some of the experienced Spyder ryders give this newbie some in-sight on pros and cons....I'm sure I'm missing something here....

For me its just habbit maybe? Feel safter deflect the bugs and what not. When i was younger a full face helmet saved me from breaking my neck so i owe them one.

Quiter on my headset too i suppose.

There are quite a few of us who do wear buckets. Bruiser and I each have a couple, and we also wear 3/4 helmets when we need our headsets. Neither one of us wear full face helmets. Some ryders just feel more comfortable with full face, I guess.

I wear a shorty with ear extensions for helmet speakers

each to there own, I carry a full face in my Trailer for when its raining hard but I don't like the claustrophobic feeling of a full face.

I wear a helmet all the time even in states that have no helmets laws, around the house, in the garden even in bed, you just never know if one my teenagers is texting and walking at the same time.

I think it's just preference. I tried the full face and it was just too hot and too heavy. So we all ride with the 3/4 helmets. If I can't figure out what in our helmets is causing my son to have an allergic reaction he may have to go to the bucket helmet.

My full face is modular as well. So on the hot days I ride with the mask up. And if it rains I can drop it.

When we went to Myrtle Beach last year, we were told several times that helmets were not required - to which we replied - they are when we are ryding. We do not ride without a helmet.

Being empty nesters, however, don't know about the teens texting and walking!!

Does that mean that with a Spyder, I now have to talk to the wife?

    Around town the shorite.
Day ride when weather is good and 90% if rain. 3/4
Winter ride, or long long ride I switch from 3/4 to full. And in extended rain the full is better be it winter or summer. that water stings.

I grew up riding in the dirt and never really liked the taste of the Illinois mud. When I started riding on the street I figured I wouldn't enjoy the taste of the Illinois bugs either. A little more protection for the face is always good.

I'm looking at the RT Limited....with the 4 bags it appears that I will need at least one for tools and I can use one of the other bags for rain gear and a spare helmet!

I guess I have become accustomed to the unique skin cleansing only possible from those hard sharp raindrops...

I have a lava bronze RT limited. I noticed with the RT a full face will only fit in the front Frunk. And only one, some friends of ours wear 3/4 and they can fit both up there.

On three wheels i use a 3/4 helmet with a shield, In the winter i use a full face. [it's warmer]
On two wheels i always use a full face summer and winter, Because Every now and then a two wheeler will/can,

I was wearing a full face helmet when I was in an accident a few years ago...it probably saved my life.I've worn one ever since.

Yes, they have been known to tip over from time to time. I've only used a shorty with a face mask for the super cold days...just remember to take it off before entering a bank!

I don't wear a helmet.. I have massive quantities of cushioning due to hair to the middle of my back.. last time I wore a helmet, it was full face, not that it mattered if I went down.. as I was over 176 mph... I do have a helmet however.. a non dot approved Divida... http://british-classics.com/60220%20003.jpg
