    Default Helmets?????????

I just have to ask....why does each and every single Spyder ryder I have seen so far, use a full face helmet?

As a long time 2 wheeler with both full face (sports bikes) and shorty helmets for all of the cruisers, I have yet to see a Spyder rider with a shorty....

Can some of the experienced Spyder ryders give this newbie some in-sight on pros and cons....I'm sure I'm missing something here....

    Around town the shorite.
Day ride when weather is good and 90% if rain. 3/4
Winter ride, or long long ride I switch from 3/4 to full. And in extended rain the full is better be it winter or summer. that water stings.

I guess I have become accustomed to the unique skin cleansing only possible from those hard sharp raindrops...

On three wheels i use a 3/4 helmet with a shield, In the winter i use a full face. [it's warmer]
On two wheels i always use a full face summer and winter, Because Every now and then a two wheeler will/can,
Under the right circumstances Fall over.

    Cool three

Hi all i have three diffrent ones a shorty (the cops dont like this one even though its rated )a normal open-face with a shield , and a flip-front full face (my least favorite its claustophobic ) here in OZ helmet wearing is mandatory and i wear whatever is comfortable in the current weather ,the full-face is like wearing an oven in 110 degrees but the shorty is like wearing a fridge in cold weather so each to his/her own .
    cheers mick

I grew up riding in the dirt and never really liked the taste of the Illinois mud. When I started riding on the street I figured I wouldn't enjoy the taste of the Illinois bugs either. A little more protection for the face is always good.

I don't think I would even HAVE a face, today if I had not had my fullface helmet on when I crashed at 65 MPH, trying to miss a deer. Didn't protect the ole' ribs, though: 7 of those got broken, as well as two broken fingers. THANK YOU, HJC SYMAX!!

It sounds as ifyour screen name has taken on a frightening reality along the way...

I wear a half in town. Not as safe as the full but it is air conditioned. Anything on the freeway is the modular. Here's a question: how many owners got "free" helmets with the purchase of the bike?

If you spent $15,000 to $18,000 on a RS or $24,000 to $28,000 on a RT then nothing the dealer throws in is free, while it is appreciated, you paid for that "free" helmet.

I'm looking at the RT Limited....with the 4 bags it appears that I will need at least one for tools and I can use one of the other bags for rain gear and a spare helmet!

I have a lava bronze RT limited. I noticed with the RT a full face will only fit in the front Frunk. And only one, some friends of ours wear 3/4 and they can fit both up there.

A full-face helmet will fit in the right saddlebag, too.
