    Default California Scientific Windshield

Curious if anyone has installed a windshield from Calif. Scientific. Looks to be a much better shield than the stock one on my 2010 RT.

I have one on a different bike and love it. It removes most of the back pressure and allows for smoother airflow. As the design is similar, I suppose it applies to the Spyder as well.
If and when she is ready, I will not hesitate to install one on the Spyder.

I booked marked it too! Haha!

I would like to hear some more reviews first, but it sounds really promising. I would love to get rid of some of the air pressure buffeting.

I have ordered one and it should arrive next week. Of course, I will be gone most of next week but hope to install it the following weekend.

I sure hope it is as good as they say because I find my Spyder RT Limited very, very windy and not nearly as quiet as my HD Street Glide.

I have one on my GS and passing Big Rigs is nothing like people discribe!! The hole in the middle relieves a lot of pressure and buffeting!
Its also very nice looking and provides less wind resistance than the larger windshields I was considering?
I also have Elka shocks and a Evo anti-sway bar?

If the air that goes through the hole in the windshield that helps break up the vacuum behind it, then where does the rain go if you happen to get caught in a downpour?

I ordered the medium shield for mt RT last Friday, got it in two days on Monday.

It measures 4 inches shorter than the stock WS.

I am 6' and it is the perfect height for me, when its all the way down I can just see over the top.
When all the way up for highway travel its the perfect height.

Being wider it offers more protection and the ride is without turbulence and seems better when its all the way up.

Fit and quality was also excellent.

I have put a couple hundred miles with it on and I like it a lot.

I'd think it would be a simple question of surface area difference, as that would make the biggest differencesince we aren't really aerodynamic

These shields are shorter, yet decidedly wider... Does it affect the fuel economy??

I think we're back to a wind tunnel question here... If the new windshield reduces the turbulence / disturbance behind, then it would improve MPG, however, if all it does is to move that disturbance away from the driver, well... that could be an issue, depending on where it is moved to.

I did not know there were non-OEM options of the RT windshields. This looks encouraging. Regarding rain, I'm assuming that the water would travel up the inside of the windshield and fling itself over your head into your passengers face. LOL

Damnn! Another mod to buy for the RT!

I guess I simply didn't notice any others Scotty. The stock windshield for the RT is infinitely better than the stock on the RS. Who are the other manufacturers?

Custom Dynamics has a variety of the CalSci shields. ESI doesn't show theirs anymore, though. BRP offers a couple, too.

Do you think that the vent in the shield is actually necessary? There should be lots of airflow under that shield due to the way that it sits out away from the bodywork...
Does that vent decrease passenger turbulence?
