Not ture just talked to BRP about this last week. If you are a non resident they warranty is good. So when you are travling the US you are good to go. Find a better dealer thats nuts.
Check the oil filter cap a few have had stipped bolts.

I copied this from the BRP website. The interesting thing was I selected Canada but when i went to extended warranty it only had choices for USA and USA Florida. However, last time I checked Canada was in North America.

So here I am sitting in a hotel not on my way to the SITR but waiting for a 5:30 am bus to get back to Kelowna Canada (14 hour bus ride) to get my truck and snowmobile trailer to head back down to pick up sick Spyder
A couple of things
Am I CRAZY to not think the roadside would take it to closest dealer???
The Dealer would not make an effort to look at it in case its a simple hose fix???????To get the road trip rider back on the road
That Warranty Coverage works on both sides of the border
I would love others opinions on my situation
the good thing here is that you handled the bike well and that you are safe in a motel room and not injured in a hospital!!! the sad thing is that you will not be at sita.
good luck with the trip and the retrieve!

Sorry you are having issues and that you won't be able to make Spyders in the Redwoods. Is there another dealership in the area you could call and see if they could see it sooner ?

Ah, bummer, Gasman! Sorry you won't make it and that the bike is busted, but very very glad that you are ok! That could have been nasty!
Hope you get it sorted out soon. We will all send you good karma.

I believe the engine is M12 X 1.25 and the reservoir is M14 X 1.5. Don't forget the copper crush washer. I am concerned about the reason for the loose plug. Possibilities include failure to torque properly, reused copper washer too many times, or stripped crankcase threads. Be sure to address the cause or it can happen again. Hope there was no engine or transmission damage.

Had this happen on my service truck after an oil change at an unmentioned lube chain. Fortunately I was sitting at a stop light just a block from where I had the oil changed when a motorist behind me signaled that I had fluid leaking under the truck. Took it right back and had the plug retorqued and 1.5 qts added. Haven't been back there since. Oh yeah, you could see the trail of oil from the bay out to where I stopped.

All the best to you GASMAN.
Nothing worse than conking out away from home, one feels so impotent.
Hope a new plug + oil fixes it.

So, we are assuming that no damage was done to the drain plug threads???
If not, I can tell you exactly what happened on your last oil change. Someone finger threaded the drain plug in but never torqued it (or wrenched it) tight. You were just an accident waiting to happen. You really need to visit that service department with your story.
This is one BIG reason I do my own maintenance. If I die because of my own stupidity, that's bad enough. But dying for someone else's is just too much for me to bear. I tend to be just a bit more careful with my life than the average mechanic. Not to disparage mechanics as I know some very good ones, just saying.
I don't mean to be a drama queen, but seriously, dumping that much oil in front of your tire could have been fatal.

Just to let everyone know, Gasman did indeed arrive safely in Coos Bay last night, and convoyed down with us today to Eureka, where we are all now fully-Spydered out in the parking lot, with several dozen other Spyders! Let the fun begin!
