MSRP just the start
How much have you spent in mods, or whatever you wish to name the little (cough and big) add ons to your spyder?

I put almost $6K into my RS (risers, windshield, Corbin seat, grips, road pegs, floorboards, hand brake, hard bags, sport rack, backrest, shocks, sway bar, fog lights, +++++++, and it still wasn't done), and a Corbin seat, Seal Floorboards, and Works shocks on the RT - the RT doesn't need anything else.

I think the MSRP is just the start for most "enthusiast" of anything. My brother dumped just as much money into his Harley and BMWs as most people do their spyders. You can save a ton doing some of the mods yourself if able. Also consider you can save over 100 bucks doing your own oil changes.

So far, about $1400 in 5 weeks. Sport rack, back rest, arm rests, new twin brother pipes, decals, IPS and some additional things that are too early to list. Need to stop, but just can't

Good lord...I'm glad I didn't read this post BEFORE I bought my lowly little RS or I think I would have settled for an old vw bug with the top cut off...or a Robin Reliant!

The first rule of the cost of mods is we don't talk about the cost of mods. And if she doesn't notice, we don't even bring it up.

I agree 100% be it friends with Ducati Harley or any of the alphabet soup sportbikes I've seen it all (just like other motorsports) I was just curious as to what type of $ people are throwing down on top of the spyder. Sometimes it seems as though a second bike or trike has just about been spent.

personally less than $100.00 for 1/2 cover & tank bag. But I will admit that it has a givi windshield & trunk thanks to a couple of birthdays that have passed since I got the spyder. Except for the windshield I like my stock spyder, i mostly added the rear trunk becuase it has a passenger backrest & seemed more useful than the brp backrest.
Indecision may or may not be my problem...J. Buffett

$3000.00 and counting
I have spent around 3 grand on mods, most can be seen in link below, some are not visible. Seat was the most expensive at $895.00that included back rest embroidery gas tank cover and shipping. And I would do it again.

Well over $5000, and counting...I don't plan on getting rid of the Spyder no matter what they come out with...I'm not one of those 'must have the latest and greatest' just to waste more money. I prefer to customize my bike just the way I want it. The bike should last a long time...let the mods continue!

I do have a RS. I went with ISCI ones, based on a recommendation from a fellow member. Here is the link. It took a whole of 15 minutes to install them and they work great.

Like others have said, it's not the money that you spend on a it's the enjoyment that you get out of them. You can see the condensed version of "farkles" in my signature line below. It is in excess of $5K but if you count the RT622 trailer in is pushing $10K pretty hard.
Spyder: 2011 RT Limited w/ RT-622 trailer
Mods: ESI Brightsides, RT Rear Brightsides, HMT Brake Light, Scuff Guards, Utopia Backrest, Chrome, and more Chrome, Pearl White Rear View Mirrors, Rear Fender, and Dashboard, Black Rear Wheel and Belt Assy, SpyderPops Heat Shields & Bump Skid, Elka Stage 1+ Shocks, 2012 SF Graphics, Silver Carbonfiber Dash, Corbin Arm Rests, Baker A.W., BRP Vented WindShield. Hey Mr Orange, you that boy !!! You're definitely the King of Mods !!! I've spent approximately $ 6,500.00 and worth every penny. All 2011 Rt Ltd are the same color, so you have to spice it up to make it unique

I would say that nobody is going to make a machine that pleases everyone. the spyder is still fairly new, and improvements have been made, but yes brp could do better. i love my spyder, and thats really all that matters.

For both gs/rs the 2008 and 2009 I had $6000 each in farkles trying to make them into touring bikes.
For the 2010 RT'S Lots of lights, a Corbin Seat and backrest, Floorboards, brake pedal extenders and riser, plus grip buddies. About $2150.
For the 2011 RT A & C: Back trunk light, front driving lights, glo ryders, pup floorboards, brake pedal extender and riser, plus grip buddies. About $1700 so far.
That's $15,850 in Spyder farkles on four different spyders.
I do not have buyers remorse though, and we are still having fun, fun, fun on the spyders. I have toned down the farkling on the RT's though.

That's some grade A trolling right there. grats!
I wouldn't buy a bike that didn't have any mods worth adding to it. Customization is what makes it personal.
