    Default Question oil flow thru RT SE transmission

    Wondering why BRP needed to increase the length of the transmission filter? Does all the oil to/thru the xmsn, flow completely thru the filter? In other words, does the transmission not get any oil unless it flows thru the filter? IF so, I can understand the need for more filter area for ease of flow. If not, can't see the point of a bigger filter.

    The filter size was increased to allow for a longer oil change interval.

    Old (short) filter = 3000 miles

    New (long) filter = 5000 miles

    My first oil change I did myself had the BRP filter. The filter had started to colapse even after 3000 miles. I switched to filters from Bajron and no more issues. The new filter is not just longer it has more support to keep it from colapsing. If the filter get plugged up or you get a leak out past the O-ring on the cover the shifting starts to go south on you. Even with enough oil shifting gets rough or hesitent if you dod not get full pressure out of the filter.

    RT-S: HMT brake light, mud flap lights/turn signals, Trailer hitch, Garmin 660 GPS, Ride-On, Travel cover, LED Mirror turn signals, LED trunk lighting, RGB ground effect lighting, BajRon anti-sway bar, to be continued ......

    I believe I read, or maybe heard when they announced it at the Owners Event, that it simply increasing the amount of contaminants it can hold, allowing longer intervals between changes

    Default never stops flowing

    There is a separate oil pump to produce oil pressure in the shifter unit. All the oil from this pump goes through the transmission filter before going to all the components of the shift system. This oil pump never stops pumping oil as long as the engine is running and when not shifting gears there is a bypass valve open dumping all this oil into the engine sump. All this oil is going through the transmission filter all the time.

    Any idea why my new RTS-SE5 with only 429 break in miles. Is getting more difficult to shift into neutral from 1st gear? It seems worse when the engine is at normal operating temperature.

    I was wondering if everyone tends to use the full synthetic engine oil in the RTS with the SE5 semi automatic transmission?

    A1A: no idea whether the SE is delivered with Blended or Syn, but on my 2011, I changed it to Amsoil 10-40 MC oil at 600 mi. and have used syn ever since. However, doubt the oil type has any effect on your situation. Something to discuss with dealer when you go for the 600 service.
