Information from BRP
Was just wondering if others have received this letter from BRP concerning new maintenance and a new oil filter access body panel img021.jpg
-
Yep... It appears that BRP is sending that packet of information out to all of us.

Notification
I got mine a week ago but yours is the first time I am able to read it, you see brp are sending all my correspondences in French, I guess when I bought it the dealer ticked off French and not English, which ticked me off!
They have promised to fix it and re-send all the past notifications to me in English!

I still don't know where this panel goes. Does it replace an existing panel or is it a new piece. Obviously it isn't color matched to each Spyder so it must be a black panel that goes underneath the machine. Anyone have a picture or some idea of where it goes?

That would be 4,600 miles now... Valve servicing has been changed to 14,000 miles too.

I'm thinking that it replaces the panel under the spyder with one that has an opening or a hatch to make it easier for oil changes. The current one needs to be removed, but it sounds like the new one can stay on.
This should reduce the oil change labor cost a little, but I doubt the dealership will reduce the cost for the service. This will probably be more benefitial for the people that do their own maintenance. The funny thing about this is that most people that do their own oil changes already have the panel permanently removed.

I will probably double that before I have my valve clearances checked. And it's possible I will never have them checked.

Per a Lamont post it's the left lower flat black panel. Also I've read that it is to be replaced by dealer while in for service. Guess it'll be between us and our dealers whether they actually have to be the ones to replace it. FWIW - all hearsay at this point

This was announced at the BBQ dinner Thursday evening @ the Owner's Event in Durango.
The extended oil service interval is only when using the new oil filter.
As I understand it, the new panel replaces the left lower flat black panel already in place, not the panel on the bottom.
Per Lamont, this is for RTs only & is for both manual and electronic shift models.

Was at my service dealer this morning, as of then they have not heard about the panel from BRP. They did say when they got them and the info in they would notify me to get it switched out during the free period.
