Bob, are you troubleshooting the radio reception? Did you try a complete antenna, normal length jusy to test the antenna coax cable yet?

Other than gaining access, it is an easy test of the antenna system. Hope you resolve it easily.

Sorry, Paul: I never reported on what happened...
I tried know "good" antennas, I tried shutting off the headlights, and I tried about a 10 foot long wire attached to the mounting block (wrapped around an appropriate-sized bolt...)
No difference: no useful sounds at all!
I'll take the bike to the Dealer in the Spring, and have them replace the unit.

Here are pictures of the short antenna on a 2014RTS-SE6: New Radio Antenna on 2014RTS-SE6 001.jpg New Radio Antenna on 2014RTS-SE6 002.jpg antenna base # 708300156. Short Antenna part # 710005084.

I used a 7mm deep socket to install antenna.

Cut a small slit at top of antenna base to insert antenna thru. I bought the short antenna base/and the short antenna from Pitbull in Springfield, Mo. I get fantastic radio reception.

    I have a 2014RTS-SE6. Deanna

Sounds like a bad receiver unit as you mentioned. Worth getting replaced, but in all honestly, the IPod truly does sound better.

I have considered a good way to install a quality reciever, but BRP has it so intertwined with "stuff" to allow remote selections it just becomes a why bother project.

All the best with it in the spring. You may want to see if they have a long lead time to obtain one. I thought I read on hear, but maybe it was somewhere else that they were installing refurbished units under warranty and they had to come via some other source. Maybe I am wrong and it was another vehicle, but whatever it may be worth asking so there is minimal wait.

Thanks for that little tidbit; I'll give them a call, and see what I can learn about it.

I do need to get off my rear and do my double antenna install, just because it may look cool and may improve reception.

But then I won't have the clean looks of no external antennas.

So many decisions, so little time...

When you do this: take LOTS of pictures!
I've always wanted to do it to my bike, but I lack the courage...
A complete list of what is needed, and some pics of how it is done... would probably push me over the edge!

We really like these and have one installed on our own RT.
Short Spiral AntennaThis 7 ½’’ tall antenna is easily installed as a direct replacement for Can-Am RT, AM/FM antennas.
Includes removable M6-1.0 threaded screw to mount on any model needed.

Includes a new grommet for the Can-Am RT that will stay put and complete the installation.

Go with the Walmart one-no doubt $8, can't be beat. Put a small drop of blue Loctite from Harbor Freight and you are set to go

I just installed one of those - got it from Lamonster since I was sending them an order anyway. The installation was a piece of cake ( except the instructions should tell you to dribble some rubbing alcohol on the threads before trying to remove the old antenna; it is very difficult if you don't). The grommet that comes with it fits great and seems unlikely to come loose. I didn't thoroughly test the reception since I seldom use the radio, though.

    Default I got mine from....

Bought mine from Value Accessories made my "Show Chrome" for $20.00

    Check it out.

Now I get the fun of trying to undo the BRP one that has loctite on it hopefully can, was recommended to just cut it off and then use like a 7mm wrench on it to remove it then put the shorty on.

    So will see.

    Default Stubby Antenna

If you don't have a cb why not just cut your factory antenna down? Did a few on other bikes with no problems and didn't change reception much if at all? safe riding!

Tricled sells the stubby antenna. I installed one one my bike and the reception is fine.

I noticed that in 2017 BRP changed to a shorty antenna. Problem is I got quoted near $60.00 for it @Pitbull during Spyderfest. Makes the Value Accessories short replacement look like a deal. So far I' ve been lucky, haven't broken my OEM whip on my RT Limited.

    On another front...
My bike goes in Tuesday for some servicing, some lighting additions, and some radio "R&R"***...
I'll let you know what happens.

I never had an issue with the long antenna on my 2014 RT. But the reception is a lot worse on my F3T, with the shorter factory antenna.
