Default Bed Liner Project Continues Stage One and Two Complete

To be pictures are worth a thousand words, so I am going to post a lot of picture and use very little words:

    Couple of lessons:

    1. Make sure if tape the reflectors that you use a razor to seperate the bed liner from the tape.
    2. Don't stick your finger in the wet bed liner! VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!a
    3. Don't start this project outside if there is rain in the forecast!
    4. Put all bolts and small parts in a zip lock for safe keeping.

OK Stage One, taking off the Silver Panels:

    Stage Two - Begin Painting

If you decide to undertake this project make sure that you follow steps in my earlier post, but here are the progress pictures:

So that is all the panels, I think. The panels have to dry overnight and tomorrow I will post after stage 3, putting her back together.

No it does not go on smooth, the texture is immediate. It take nice even strokes to make it look right. Here is a close up picture:

Bytemi....this thread is like watching paint dry oh crap wait a minute we are watching paint dry. The texture you are getting is awesome and the flat black is cool. I think this is a great idea to coat these panels. And yes cant wait to see it all back in one piece. Good job

Tell your BF to look at my post under ShopTalk for step by step instructions, I think it would look great on a Harley.

Thanks Bob you are always so supportive!!! I am not sure I would have tried this without your encouragement. But I am thrilled with the results. Now I just have to figure out how to put it all back together.

I am with Randy and others, I was very skeptical and was reserved enough to just wait and see what happened, but its looking fantastic! Sonja wanted to let you know she likes it as well

It might be a route we go in the future... Now, I wonder if you can get bedliner in differing colors... I tend to be a guy that doesnt like to mimic others.

After a quick internet search, it appears, that Line-x at least does. And has used it in this manner before. VERY INTERESTING.

    Spray on Bytemi, Spray on...

Duraliner has different colors but it is a little more pricey. You will need three 16 oz cans for the panels and one more for touch up once you start reassembling the bike. That's where we are now. Final pictures coming soon.

Line-x is an industrial bed liner and a lot thicker. You don't want to use Line-X.

That works! The RT manuals do a pretty decent job of explaining how to strip all of the Tupperware off the Bike; I would have thought that they'd have done the same for you guys too...
